Charles Ray Chapman, 88
Charles Ray Chapman, 88, of Tupper Lake, died peacefully May 2, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.
Born in French Camp, Mississippi on March 25, 1932, he is the son of James “Jack” Larkin and Zoella (Speed) Chapman. Ray married Mary Fletcher on June 4, 1967 in Warrensburg, N.Y.

After moving to the Corey’s area of Tupper Lake, Ray worked for Sunmount DDSO for a couple of years before purchasing Tri-Lakes Amusement & Vending, and eventually Ray’s Liquor Store, selling the former and retiring from the latter after a long and illustrious career serving the adopted community he loved so much.
A few of Ray’s accomplishments are serving 22 years of service in the Air Force, owner/operator of Tri-Lakes Amusement & Vending, owner/operator of Ray’s Liquor Store, raising nine children and always having a smile, and maybe even a song, for all. He was so very loved by all.
Ray was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1950-1972, and retiring as a Master Sergeant near the end of the Vietnam war.
Some of our family’s fondest memories of Dad were as the “Candy Man”, owning and servicing vending machines/games in the Tri-Lakes area and occasionally letting us kids give them a “test drive”. He was a kind and gentle soul who rarely raised his voice, but when he did, you’d better run for the hills!
Ray is survived by four sons: Michael (Rachel) Chapman of CA, Gregory (Susan) Chapman of WI, David (Camille) Chapman of AZ and Michael (Teresa) Downer of AK; four daughters: Tina (Mark) Bradley of Tupper Lake, Tami Chapman (Craig) of Tupper Lake, Jesse (Sean) Fletcher of Tupper Lake and Billi (Darryl) Fletcher of Tupper Lake; nine grandchildren: Catherine, Mark, Kayla, Mallory, Stone, Dylan, Logan, Max, & Cassidy; and five great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Rebecca, Delila, Adelyn, Kayden, and Garrett, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Ray’s nephew, Jim Fletcher, Jr. for taking such good care of him in this last phase of his life and to High Peaks Hospice staff, especially Nurse Melissa Boushie Stearns, for all their comforting care and family support.
Burial will take place at Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake at the convenience of the family. A private service is planned.

Beverly loved cooking for others, her baby dolls, driving fast, swimming, root beer floats, and of course her heartthrob Randy Travis. Most importantly, she loved her family.

Daniel K. Green, 85
Mr. Daniel K. Green, of Waltham, passed peacefully and surrounded by compassionate care, thanks to the many heroes on 6E ICU at Newton Wellesley Hospital on April 9, 2020. He was 85.
Dan would have wanted you "glancing" at this obituary, while listening to thunderously loud Big Band music on an original Victrola record player and he would have insisted the write-up include a joke at the beginning, middle and end. (We would have inserted one of the jokes here but in all the years of poorly-timed-but-charming comedic delivery, we literally couldn't hear the punch lines over his own laughter).
He was an only child of the late Daniel and Alice Green, born in Little Falls Hospital, N.Y. on May 29, 1934. His family was from Dolgeville, N.Y. and were proud owners of the Daniel Green Slipper Company for many years. The family went back many generations and one of Dan's favorite past times was telling time-honored stories over viewing of family documentation covering major U.S. events like the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the Gold Rush, and many more.
After attending Dolgeville High School and Coyne College in Chicago, he met his wife Nance at a hair salon in Tupper Lake.
Dan's mom was giving Nance a North Country beauty parlor treatment at her new salon and it lasted so long, he hung around to chat and it led to a loving marriage of over 50 years and four children.
His true passions were clear: Electronics, expert knowledge of cars, listening to records for hours, animals, oyster-stuffing demands at all holiday gatherings and a classic Three Stooges marathon on New Year's Eve or maybe every Sunday morning forever. He loved antiques, including his grandfather clock from 1811 that still gets wound today. His heart was family – a simple dinner with his wife and kids was his most frequent request, even if Olympic-level napping through said request was his best-in-show activity.
Many in Waltham knew Dan during a different time when he was an expert Sound Consultant/Sales Associate at Radio Shack on Main Street for over 30 years. A proud moment was teaching his son about "real" customer service when they got to work together.
Beloved husband of Nance (Russell) Green; father of Susan A. Green of Ayer, Daniel K. Green of Utica, New York, Kenneth R. Green (Nicole) of Wrentham, and the late James K. Green and Holly Louise Green and the father-in-law of Donna Green of Gloversville, New York.
Due to the ongoing health crisis around the world and in our community, funeral services for Dan are private.
Donations in his memory can be made to the NWH COVID-19 fund, https://www.nwh.org/home/covid-19-donations.
Mildred Anna Gould, 99
Mildred Anna Gould, 99, of Summerville, SC, widow of Russell E. Gould, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 18, 1920, in Elmhurst, N.Y., the daughter of William F. and Marie Anna (Wernex) Frey.
Mili grew up on Long Island, the oldest of four siblings and attended public schools, graduating in 1938.
The family spent summers in the beautiful Adirondacks, camping at Fish Creek Ponds. It was there she met her future husband. They married on November 20, 1941. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the US Army and they spent the next three years apart. She stayed on Long Island and worked in Manhattan during that time.
Upon his return, they went back to northern New York. Daughter Sandra Lee and son William Floyd were born in Malone and soon after they relocated to Tupper Lake when Bell Telephone Co. transferred Russ.
She enjoyed serving in her church, Eastern Stars, playing canasta, laughing with the ladies at the “knitting” club and, in the winter months, skiing, and snowmobiling. Summertime was spent organizing lots of family picnics and boating on the many lakes and rivers in the area.
Mili and Russ built and operated the Northern Lights Ice Cream stand for many years. They loved living in the Adirondacks with extended family nearby.
They began an active travel life, visiting the world and in particular, Italy, where Russ fought during WWII. Things were very different then. They also explored much of America and Canada. In the early 70s, they began a new chapter in Pompano Beach, Florida. Other New York friends were there and Liesureville was an ideal winter retirement spot. They had an active life, planning parties and celebrations. They were truly blessed with great friends and a very busy schedule.
Mili moved to Summerville in 2006, about two years after her beloved Russ passed away to be near her daughter and son-in-law, who was stationed at Charleston AFB. She was present in Greenville, SC, when her first great grandson was born. She was a member of the Dorchester Presbyterian Church and the Dorchester Presbyterian Women.
Her most precious gifts were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was forever thankful for her long and wonderful life.
She is survived by her daughter Sandee White and son-in-law Neil of Summerville, two grandchildren, Stacy A. Coulter of Greenville, SC, and Nathan A. White (Alison) of Charlotte, NC., great grands Tradd Coulter and Arthur, Casey and Bridget White, brother Walter (Judy) Frey and nine nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Russ and son Billy and brothers Herb and Bill Frey.
Her family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Sandee and Neil wish to extend their gratitude for the love and special care given by her caregivers, Kathy Spencer, Kit Mills, and Pat Moore and the nurses and CNAs at the Hospice House of Summerville.

Janet loved everything and anything Adirondacks. From hosting Adirondack Artists Art exhibits to spending a day on the lake in her canoe...there was nothing more important than supporting Adirondack endeavors, both personal and community.
