A private funeral mass for Carolyn Shaheen, age 82, of Tupper Lake, will be held on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2:00PM at St. Alphonsus Church with Rev. Douglas Decker officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the spring. Mrs. Shaheen passed away on Friday morning, March 20, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary-Stuart Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ayupe Shaheen; her four sons, Timothy J. Shaheen and his wife, Karen, of Northridge, CA, Rodney A. Shaheen and his wife, April, of Austin, TX, Paul Shaheen and his wife, Maureen, of Tupper Lake, and Andrew J. Shaheen and his wife, Tina, of Tupper Lake; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Rebecca, Casper, Conner, Nathan, Justin, Austin, Quinn, and Griffin Shaheen; a great-grandchild, Clayton W. Shaheen; her sister, June Preddice, of FL; her brother, Vincent Meagher, of Rochester, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Shaheen in 1964; her brothers, Bert, Gerard, Ralph, Arthur, Bernard and Ronald Meagher; and her sisters, Doris Schmidt, Bernice Niccolls, and Eileen Grady.

Carolyn Shaheen was born on October 21, 1937 in Saranac Lake, NY, the daughter of Clare Hornby & James Meagher. Carolyn married Ayupe Shaheen on April 2, 1959 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake, NY. She first went to work for the NYS Department of Health before raising her children. She later worked at the Shaheen’s Motel until she and her husband sold the business.

She loved reading books, cross-stitching, taking long walks with her dear friends Maggie and Shirley, spending time with her family, and raising her grandchildren.
