There will be a graveside interment of ashes in honor of Walter Frey (September 4, 1928 – March 8, 2022) on June 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
Gregg Pratt, 73
Gregg Fergerson Pratt, 73, of Saratoga Springs, NY passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022, at Saratoga Hospital.
Gregg was born on October 26, 1948, to Charles and E. Louise Pratt in Syracuse, N.Y. After graduating from Liverpool High School in 1966, he went on to SUNY Oswego to study English and later to SUNY Albany to obtain a Masters in Education.
Gregg began his career at Fulton Montgomery Community College in 1975. In 1981 he moved to Tupper Lake, NY to teach at Tupper Lake High School and North Country Community College.
Mr. Pratt will be remembered as an outstanding, highly dedicated teacher who challenged students and expected their best. He had a deep love of literature. His ability to teach students to write and offer constructive feedback produced generations of effective writers. He retired in 2006. Gregg continued to teach part-time for NCCC and SUNY Adirondack for several more years in retirement.
In 1976, Gregg married Jennifer Daggett Pooler in Charlton, N.Y. He resided in Perth, N.Y. with Jennifer and his step-son, Chad, for several years prior to moving to Tupper Lake.
Gregg enjoyed biking, reading, poetry, music, and working on his home and yard. In retirement, he played guitar in his band, The Wannabe’s, and shared poetry in local poetry groups.
Gregg was pre-deceased by his father, Charles E. Pratt, and mother E. Louise Fergerson Pratt, father-in-law, James W. Daggett, mother-in-law Bertha Daggett, and brother-in-law James L. Daggett.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Jennifer L. Pratt, step-son Chad Pooler and wife, Carey, grandson, Noah Pratt Pooler of North Creek, , brother Gary Pratt and wife Patricia of Henderson, NV, sister Cheryl Bauer and husband William of Port St. Lucie, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held for Gregg on July 9, 2022 at 2p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 624 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Friends may attend in person or online at https://bit.ly/CelebrateGreggPratt

Theresa E. Joseph, 88
Theresa E. Joseph, 88, of Tupper Lake passed away peacefully on May 17, 2022. Theresa was born October 14,1933- the daughter of George and Mary (Gaston) Joseph.
Theresa graduated from the local schools and held several jobs during her lifetime. Theresa, along with her three sisters, operated Joseph’s Market on Washington Street which was started by her father many years prior.
She was a teller at the Tupper Lake National Bank and then became a telephone operator at Sunmount DDSO.
She had a very strong faith which was shown by her involvement in the workings and organizations of Holy Name Church and in her everyday life. She was a lector, an Eucharistic minister and a Sacristan. She was a member of the St. Anne Society and traveled with the group to visit Saint Anne DeBeaupre Shrine annually and also visited Jerusalem. She was a member of the Auxiliary Legion of Mary.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents and sisters Mamie, Iona and Yesman. She is survived by family members of Clarence and Najarene (Ellis) Bell and their seven children as well as Anthony and Dawn (Hutchins) Ellis and their five children.
There will be no calling hours or reception following the wishes of Theresa. Her funeral mass was held on Tuesday May 24 at 10a.m. at St. Alphonsus Holy Name of Jesus Church. Burial immediately followed in the family plot at Holy Name Cemetery.

Ronald F. Lamica, 87
Ronald F. Lamica, 87, of Tupper Lake, passed away on May 19, 2022 with his family by his side.
Arrangements are under the care of Frary Funeral Homes.
Ronald was born on August 8, 1934 in Tupper Lake, the son of Wilbur Sr. and Pearl (Farmer) Lamica.
He served in the military, beginning in 1957.
He Married Esther Dukette March 3, 1957. She predeceased him in 2008.
Ronald worked for Lavalley & Wolf for many years and was self employed at Agway for about 10 years. He later worked part-time for Larkins after his retirement.
Ronald is survived by his children, Audrey Brodersen, Michael (Tonya) Lamica, Angela (William) Knapp, Loralee Lamica and James (sally) Lamica; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Dennis Lamica, his daughter Leslie Lamica ,his siblings, Buddy (Irvin) Lamica, Joyce Savage, Lois LaFountain, Wilbur Lamica Jr., Joan Denis and Butch (Arlen) Lamica.
Ronald enjoyed playing and watching baseball his entire life, camping with his family, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed wood working and spent a lot of time in his garage workshop.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to all of the staff at Mercy Living Center for the care and love shown to their father during his stay there.

Jeannette (Roch) Brown, 70
Jeannette (Roch) Brown, 70, of Tupper Lake, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022. She was surrounded by her loved ones at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Jeannette was born on May 15, 1952 in Lowville, N.Y., the daughter of George and Helen (Lang) Roch.
Jeannette grew up in Croghan, N.Y. and was a 1970 graduate of Beaver River High School.
On September 30, 1978 she married Martin, the love of her life and her best friend, at St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan..
Jeannette and Martin welcomed their children, Jonathan and Rebecca, in 1979 and 1983. Jeannette’s greatest joy was her children; she was a phenomenal wife and mother.
Jeannette especially enjoyed Christmas, spring time, antiquing, garage sales, crafting, reading, gardening, classic country music and spending time with her friends and family. In the last few years of her life, she became a grandmother and she loved watching her granddaughter grow.
Jeannette is survived by her husband of 43 years, Martin, her son Jonathan (Kelly) of Selkirk, N.Y., her daughter Rebecca (Jason) and her granddaughter, Harper, of Baldwinsville, N.Y., her brother Roger (Patricia) of Lowville, N.Y. her niece Jennie (Craig) and their children of Lockport, N.Y. and many extended family members and beloved friends.
Jeannette is predeceased by her father and mother, George and Helen (Lang) Roch, two brothers - George Peter and Reginald Roch, two infant sisters - Mary and Catherine, a nephew, Jason Roch, all of Croghan, N.Y., as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who all held a special place in her heart.

Callie E. Benware, 68
Callie E. Benware, 68, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, May 16 at her home surrounded by family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Callie was born in Tupper Lake, on September 19, 1953, the daughter of the late Maynard and Iona Leroux.
Callie was very devoted and protective of her family. She enjoyed fishing, especially out-fishing her husband Bruce. She could be found every weekend at the table playing cards or dice with everyone. Another hobby she had was watching the wildlife outside the window.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Benware, daughters, Stacy (Buster) Hall, Nicole Mace, 3 step-children; Christine Danussi, Rachel (Bill) Dechene, Derric Benware, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Laurie Leroux, brother, Gary (Vicki) Leroux, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was deceased by a sister, Marcy Craven.
Visitation will be held on Friday at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.

Sally Trudeau, 90
Sally Ann (Simmons, Lancor) Trudeau, 90, passed away on May 9, 2022.
Born January 18, 1932 in Harrisville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Arnold (Red) and Addie (Baskey) Simmons.
In December of 1948 she married John (Jack) Lancor. She also had a brief marriage to Walton Trudeau.
Ms. Trudeau owned and operated the Grand Union Hotel for 40 years in the Tupper Lake Junction.
She retired in 2001 and relocated to Grand Island, Florida where she lived for the next 14 years. She made many friends and lasting relationships there.
Due to health reasons she returned to Tupper Lake in 2015 to reside at Donald E. Smith Apartments and most recently at Mercy Living Center where she was at the time of her death.
She is survived by her son Danny and his wife, Debra of Tupper Lake; her beloved grandson Jared Lancor (son of Donald) of Clarksville, TN; and her granddaughters Kelly (Stuart) Burnette of Tampa FL, Addie Lancor of Tupper Lake, Lindsay (Wade) Heller of Jenkinstown, PA; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephew.
She was predeceased by one son, Donald in 2014; her parents, and two brothers, Robert and Donald.
A mass of Christian burial and internment will follow on Saturday, June 2 at 10a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, 14355 Maple Street, Harrisville. A reception will follow in the Parish Center.

Keith Hodges, 69
Keith Hodges, 69, of Long Lake, passed away on Thursday March 12, 2022.
Keith was born on July 21, 1952, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of George Hodges and Eleanor Hodges (Brisbane).
Keith enjoyed trying various foods, having his head massaged, and kicking up his feet and just relaxing.

Laurette M. Nadeau
Laurette M. Nadeau, 87, formerly of Tupper Lake, passed away on May 13, 2022 in Rome, N.Y., surrounded by family. She was the widow of Alban Nadeau, also of Tupper Lake.
Laurette was born in St. Francis, New Brunswick, Canada on March 3, 1935 and was the daughter of Alphee and Alice (Emond) Cyr. She was the fifth of 12 children in her family.
In 1954 Laurette moved to Long Lake, and in 1963 she moved with her growing family to Tupper Lake. It was in Tupper Lake that she and her husband raised their nine children.
Although she spent most of her adult life in the New York, she loved sharing fond memories of her childhood in New Brunswick. The skills she learned growing up on a farm gave her the ability to raise such a large family. Not wanting much, she led a simple and uncomplicated life. One of her greatest joys came from the occasional family visitors from Canada. The house would figuratively explode with aunts, uncles and cousins. Two different languages would be spoken simultaneously and somehow everyone knew what was being said. She was in her element, and at her best, when family visited from Canada.
She was predeceased by her husband Alban Nadeau, eldest son Yves Nadeau, sisters Yvonne Cyr, Therese Cormier, Georgette Cyr, Louisette Cyr and Marie-Anna Power and brother Albert Cyr.
She is survived by daughters (and spouses): Claire and Scott Blair (Rome, N.Y.) and Rhonda and William Steele (Shoreham, Long Island), sons (and spouses): Rock and Monica Nadeau (Farmington, ME), Paul and Susan Nadeau (Waterbury, VT), Perry and Sandra Nadeau (Conshohocken, PA), Richard and Lynn Nadeau (Tupper Lake), Andy and Margo Nadeau (Cicero, N.Y.) and Kevin and Cristi Nadeau (Castleton on Hudson, NY), brother: Renaud Cyr (St. Francis, NB) and sisters Jeanne d’Arc Nadeau (Edmundston, NB), Nicole Mazerolle (Siegas, NB), Yvette Rioux (Fort Kent, Maine) and Cecile Chapman (Brockville, Ont).
Laurette is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at the Frary Funeral Home, 24 Cliff Ave in Tupper Lake, N.Y. Calling hours are between 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. Interment will follow at the St Alphonsus Cemetery.
Sheldon C. Staves, 87
Sheldon C. Staves, 87, of Liverpool, N.Y., passed away on May 1, 2022.
Born in Tupper Lake, the son of the late Sheldon and Grace Staves, he attended Holy Ghost Academy School. He was a graduate from St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Sheldon worked for Hooker Chemical at Niagara Falls, N.Y. In 1969 he moved to Syracuse and began work for Varian Associates as an analytical sales person, retiring in 1996.
He was also a Lt. Colonel with the 1159th Army Reserves with 28 years of service.
He loved spending time with friends and family and loved to fish, hunt, bowl and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, of 65 years; daughters Donna Rivers, Stephanie Sorensen and son, Thomas (Bonnie) Staves; sister, Carole Fadden; grandchildren, Michael LaRose, Raymond and Jake Sorensen, Madison Staves, Sharon Landers, Vanessa Ward; five great grandchildren; cousins, Richard (Gwen) Staves and George (Carol) Staves; As well as many nieces and nephews.
Burial to take place in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Liverpool at a later date.
Robert R. Adams, 81
Robert R. Adams, 81, of Long Lake, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022, at AMC Saranac Lake, surrounded by his immediate family. Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna, sister Alice Caruso of Long Island, his sons Robert Adams Jr. (Christine), Michael Adams (Diane), John Adams (Ramona), Richard Adams (Lisa), daughter Joni Barney (Richard II); unofficial children Lisa McCall, George Negri, Madeline and Raymond Adams, Daniel Atlas, Becky Branshaud; grandchildren Michael J., Logan R., Kelly A., Gary, Andrew J.(Tatum), Samuel, Kelsie M., David R.(Alyssa), Richard K. III, Kaylee R., Cecelia-Jay M., Ryan N., Emma M.; 8 great-grandchildren including Greyson and Gavin and another one due in June as well as several nieces and nephews and close friend Robert Atlas, who were very dear to him. Robert was predeceased by his parents Harry and Alice Adams of Shirley NY, brother Harry Jr. (Annette) of Long Lake, sister Dorothy (Rudy) Lence of Forest Hills NY, and MIL Laura Hoffman of Long Beach NY.
Born September 2, 1940 in Flushing, Queens, NY, when ‘Bob’ graduated high school, he was already an entrepreneur, making and selling concrete lawn ornaments. In 1958 he began installing aluminum siding for a home improvement company; from there he started his own business and was self-employed the rest of his life; he had several businesses. He purchased his first home in ‘66 in Mineola where he enjoyed remodeling it, swimming in his pool, building and flying remote control planes, restoring his precious 1911 Cadillac Touring car and showing it at car shows as well as transporting several brides and grooms at local weddings. He also had lots of fun coaching little league and hockey as well as attending his children’s events, recitals and concerts. Another joy was raising, breeding and showing their Great Danes.
In 1971, the 36-acre property that he purchased in Long Lake, NY became his family’s home in 1980 until present day, where he started a small working farm by clearing all the land, designing and building the house, barn, garage/shop, followed by post and beam cabin, 6-unit convertible motel and eventually Donna's yarn shop. He was a logger, driving his truck long hours and built many homes and camps as well as kitchen and gun cabinets, tables, Adk chairs, and repairing anything made out of wood, including spinning wheels. He thoroughly enjoyed his horses, fresh eggs and golden retrievers.
Bob was a member of the Long Lake Fire Dept. and the Rescue Squad as well as retiring from the LL Lions Club as President. He loved participating in the local town events including the LL 100 miler and parades with the farm animals, horses, carriage and log truck. He was always one to ‘do whatever it takes’ to get the job done and also ‘willing to lend a hand, if he could’. He was a loving, caring ‘bratt’ husband, dad and provider, and was always able to give that little extra help to his family when they needed him. Bob was also very wise, as he would always shout out some phrase like, “Be careful driving on wet leaves” or “To stay out of a situation, don’t get into one”. He will be forever loved and missed.
A very nice service and calling hours were held Friday, May 13, 2022 at the LL United Calvary Methodist Church. There will be a graveside service at the Long Lake Cemetery, Saturday May 28, 2022 at 11 am, for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Robert, to the Long Lake Rescue Squad for their endless service to the community. The Adams family would like to thank Everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and who helped, cooked, transported or just called and texted to check on Bob and Donna during their difficult time.

A burial service will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 11:30a.m. at St. Alphonsus Cemetery for George L. Martin, 79, of Bennington, Vermont.
Mr. Martin passed away in Albany on March 17, 2022 and will be laid to rest with his son, Chad Martin.

Leslie James “Jim” Plummer, 75
Leslie James “Jim” Plummer, 75, of Tupper Lake, passed away on Wednesday May 4, 2022.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jennifer-Lynn (LaMora) Plummer, his children, David (Judy) Plummer and Katrina (Merlin Lewis) Nilsson, his grandchildren, Nicole (Cory) Whitman, and Tyler Nilsson and his siblings, David Plummer and Linda (Darryl) Rhodes and in-laws Michel (Julia) LaMora.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, a sister Rode, and sisters in law Joni (LaMora) Groll and Janet Plummer.
Jim was born on October 8, 1946 in Kellogg, Idaho, the son of Kenneth Plummer and Hazel (Levy) Plummer.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1965. After High School he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. In 1970 he moved with his wife to her hometown to raise their family.
Jim enjoyed puttering around the yard, sitting on his front porch in the warm weather, and traveling with his wife and family.

Helen Evelyn Daniels, 91
Helen Evelyn Daniels, 91, of Tupper Lake, and most recently Keene Valley, NY, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
She was born April 12, 1931 in Schuyler Falls, N.Y., the oldest daughter of Henry Miller and Beatrice Bishop. On December 24, 1950 she married Stafford Daniels and they made their home in Tupper Lake.
She held a variety of jobs, but most enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to cook for her family and spend time with them.
She is survived by two daughters, Trudy Lanthier and her husband Isidore of Lake Clear, and Pam LeClair and her husband Bruce of Keeseville, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren as well as three sisters.
She is predeceased by her husband, their daughter Carol Jacob, and two sisters.
A very special thank you to the staff at Keene Valley Neighborhood House for all the love and care she received during the five years she lived there.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Alphonsus Church on May 11, 2022 at 12:30p.m. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery May 21, 2022 at.

Ethel Mayville, 70
Ethel Mayville, 70, of Tupper Lake, passed away on May 7, 2022.
Ethel “Buttercup” was born on August 21, 1951, in Saranac Lake, the daughter of Edgar Edward Mayville and Ethel Sawyer. She was predeceased by her parents and her two sisters, Violet Mcgillvray of Kerkville NY, and Pearl Dashairs of Brasher Falls NY.
Ethel spent most of her life residing in Tupper Lake, and made many friends and acquaintances. She spent a short time before her passing in Madrid, N.Y. Ethel had a smile that could light up the room, infectious laughter, and a uniquely colorful way of letting you know how she was feeling.
Ethel enjoyed her collections of purses and jewelry. She was a lady who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as going on scenic rides in her community, shopping at the dollar store and garage sales, and rocking in her chair with her favorite blanket and listening to her favorite music.
Ethel was loved and endeared by all who worked and cared for her, and friends old and new.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad. A viewing will be held on Thursday May 12, 2022, from 1 to 3p.m., at the Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Catholic burial will be held at the St. Alphonsus cemetery on May 21, 2022.

Robert Pioli
Robert (Bob) Pioli lost his 11 month battle with cancer on April 8, 2022, in Homosassa, Florida where he had moved in 2016 with his loving wife Regina Henske.
Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren and making them laugh.
He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and loved to work on the fishing derby and love to go hunting. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus before becoming a member of the Tupper Lake Christian Center and played in the band there.
Bob was employed by the A&P, Grand Union, and Shaheen's IGA as a meat cutter.
While Bob was in Florida he enjoyed the Florida weather and fishing.
Bob is survived by his wife, Regina, his step son James and Tina Bankich and grandchildren James, Patricia and Cody.
He was predeceased by his stepdaughter Cindy Sue Bankich.
Robert Charles Roscoe
Robert Charles Roscoe, known to all as Bob Roscoe, of Zephyrhills, FL and formerly of Piercefield, NY, has completed his journey with us April 29th 2022.
Bob Roscoe was born to parents Charles and Florentine (Proulx) Roscoe on June 30th 1937 in Piercefield, NY. Bob grew up and attended school in Piercefield and later attended school in Tupper Lake. It was on the bus to school in Tupper that he met his soul mate Patricia Sabre Roscoe.
Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Pat, on July 12th, 1958. Bob and Pat, along with their lifelong Piercefield friends, built and founded the Piercefield Volunteer Fire Department, Women`s Brigade and later the Ladies Auxiliary. Bob was very active in the PVFD, acting as Fire Chief for many years and active within his community. Tales told and untold from that firehouse are certainly ones for the books!
In his younger years, Bob worked a variety of jobs including construction on the St. Lawrence Seaway and for Larkin`s Fuel Oil before being elected Highway Superintendent for the town of Piercefield in 1971. For 28 years Bob and his crew worked hard to keep the town maintained and roads cleared. The boys at the garage could always count on Bob for a hard day’s work, a laugh and more likely a prank from the fun loving, lighthearted man he was. Bob retired from the Piercefield Highway Department 1999.
After growing up, raising his children and watching his grandchildren grow, Bob and Pat moved to Zephyrhills Estates in Zephyrhills, FL. They spent the next 18 years of their lives in true Pat and Bob fashion, being the life of the party and pillars of their community. They made more life-long friends, helped organize events, and were always there to lend hand to a neighbor.
Bob is predeceased by his parents and his loving wife of 62 years, Pat Roscoe. Also, his sisters, Rita Woods and Bette Ann Benware.
Bob is survived by his children, Timothy Charles Roscoe of Nashville, TN, Susan Lynn Roscoe of Kingston, NY, Penny Marie Roscoe of Mt. Marion, NY, and Beverly (John) Goodrich of Tupper Lake, NY. His beloved grandchildren April Roscoe of Poughkeepsie, NY and Jeffrey Roscoe of Nashville, TN. His precious great-grandchildren Sophia Borden, Nero Bernard and Chelsea Roscoe.
Bob is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Coan “ Denis of Zephyrhills, FL. His nephew and namesake Robert Charles (Lisa) Woodard of Heuvelton, NY and John (Vicky) Woodard of Ogdensburg, NY. His beloved niece, Megan (James) Green Stultz of Crestview, FL. And by his brothers and sisters in-law Wendy Hummel of Kingston, NY, Jerry (Kathy) Sabre of Elizabeth City, NC, Joann (Art) Benware of Evens Mills, NY and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Everyone that knew Bob liked or loved him. Bob was fun and generous, honest and reliable. He was a humble man of great integrity who’s shoes can never be filled. Bob will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
