Gregg Fergerson Pratt, 73, of Saratoga Springs, NY passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022, at Saratoga Hospital.
Gregg was born on October 26, 1948, to Charles and E. Louise Pratt in Syracuse, N.Y. After graduating from Liverpool High School in 1966, he went on to SUNY Oswego to study English and later to SUNY Albany to obtain a Masters in Education.
Gregg began his career at Fulton Montgomery Community College in 1975. In 1981 he moved to Tupper Lake, NY to teach at Tupper Lake High School and North Country Community College.
Mr. Pratt will be remembered as an outstanding, highly dedicated teacher who challenged students and expected their best. He had a deep love of literature. His ability to teach students to write and offer constructive feedback produced generations of effective writers. He retired in 2006. Gregg continued to teach part-time for NCCC and SUNY Adirondack for several more years in retirement.
In 1976, Gregg married Jennifer Daggett Pooler in Charlton, N.Y. He resided in Perth, N.Y. with Jennifer and his step-son, Chad, for several years prior to moving to Tupper Lake.
Gregg enjoyed biking, reading, poetry, music, and working on his home and yard. In retirement, he played guitar in his band, The Wannabe’s, and shared poetry in local poetry groups.
Gregg was pre-deceased by his father, Charles E. Pratt, and mother E. Louise Fergerson Pratt, father-in-law, James W. Daggett, mother-in-law Bertha Daggett, and brother-in-law James L. Daggett.
Gregg is survived by his wife, Jennifer L. Pratt, step-son Chad Pooler and wife, Carey, grandson, Noah Pratt Pooler of North Creek, , brother Gary Pratt and wife Patricia of Henderson, NV, sister Cheryl Bauer and husband William of Port St. Lucie, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held for Gregg on July 9, 2022 at 2p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 624 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Friends may attend in person or online at https://bit.ly/CelebrateGreggPratt
