The skills she learned growing up on a farm gave her the ability to raise such a large family. Not wanting much, she led a simple and uncomplicated life. One of her greatest joys came from the occasional family visitors from Canada. The house would figuratively explode with aunts, uncles and cousins. Two different languages would be spoken simultaneously and somehow everyone knew what was being said. She was in her element, and at her best, when family visited from Canada.

Born September 2, 1940 in Flushing, Queens, NY, when ‘Bob’ graduated high school, he was already an entrepreneur, making and selling concrete lawn ornaments. In 1958 he began installing aluminum siding for a home improvement company; from there he started his own business and was self-employed the rest of his life; he had several businesses. He purchased his first home in ‘66 in Mineola where he enjoyed remodeling it, swimming in his pool, building and flying remote control planes, restoring his precious 1911 Cadillac Touring car and showing it at car shows as well as transporting several brides and grooms at local weddings. He also had lots of fun coaching little league and hockey as well as attending his children’s events, recitals and concerts. Another joy was raising, breeding and showing their Great Danes.
In 1971, the 36-acre property that he purchased in Long Lake, NY became his family’s home in 1980 until present day, where he started a small working farm by clearing all the land, designing and building the house, barn, garage/shop, followed by post and beam cabin, 6-unit convertible motel and eventually Donna's yarn shop. He was a logger, driving his truck long hours and built many homes and camps as well as kitchen and gun cabinets, tables, Adk chairs, and repairing anything made out of wood, including spinning wheels. He thoroughly enjoyed his horses, fresh eggs and golden retrievers.
Bob was a member of the Long Lake Fire Dept. and the Rescue Squad as well as retiring from the LL Lions Club as President. He loved participating in the local town events including the LL 100 miler and parades with the farm animals, horses, carriage and log truck. He was always one to ‘do whatever it takes’ to get the job done and also ‘willing to lend a hand, if he could’. He was a loving, caring ‘bratt’ husband, dad and provider, and was always able to give that little extra help to his family when they needed him. Bob was also very wise, as he would always shout out some phrase like, “Be careful driving on wet leaves” or “To stay out of a situation, don’t get into one”. He will be forever loved and missed.
A very nice service and calling hours were held Friday, May 13, 2022 at the LL United Calvary Methodist Church. Bob Roscoe was born to parents Charles and Florentine (Proulx) Roscoe on June 30th 1937 in Piercefield, NY. Bob grew up and attended school in Piercefield and later attended school in Tupper Lake. It was on the bus to school in Tupper that he met his soul mate Patricia Sabre Roscoe.

Christopher Sluyter
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all the tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.
Born on 4/19/982 in Fremont, California to Renee Nadeau and David Sluyter.
On 4/12/22 He was called home and will forever remain in our hearts.
For anyone who really knew Christopher Jonathan Sluyter, you knew a friend, a brother, an uncle, a son, and a partner.
He was special to many people and loved his family fiercely. Chris knew pain yet still smiled when he spoke, he made jokes at his own expense, if only to find laughter where it shouldn’t be.
He never forgot to say I love you” at the end of a call and made silly faces when his jokes weren’t enough. Coffee with French vanilla creamer was his most important food group.
There are inside jokes that no one but him will understand, and stories that are only memories to look back on now.
He loved so many yet struggled to love himself. If he were here now, he would look at the world through a new set of eyes. If he were sent back for even a period, I don’t believe he would return to comfort those who mourn him, he would seek those soon to BE mourned. Even when you think you can’t go on, when it gets to hard, painful, scary, whatever you may be going through, just know that someone out there loves you.
They know your facial expressions, your jokes and your heart. There is always a reason to keep going, your life is meaningful. Chris loved being an uncle and spending time with the love of his life Leslie DeYear. Chris liked anything with a Motor in it and loved any music with base. A perfect day for him would be riding in his convertible, top down with a little rap or techno music playing on the speakers.
He is preceded in death by his mother Renee Nadeau.
He is survived by a long list of loved ones. Leslie Deyear, David R and Heidi Sluyter, Brian and Roberta Nadeau, Steven and Selina Sluyter, Chelsea Miller, Kirsten and Piper Sluyter, David J and Caroline Sluyter, Alexis and Miah Miller, Lea Green, and many others.
Chris will be forever remembered and painfully missed. Until we meet again brother, Sleep With Angels.
