Patrick William Walsh

Patrick William Walsh was born on September 18, 1950, in Tupper Lake,  to loving parents Wilson and Teresa Kathleen (Henry) Walsh. Pat made his living working as a store manager for local grocery stores for a number of years. He also recently retired from Avon Automotive in Cadillac.
He could often be found spending time in the garden, or taking every opportunity to enjoy the company of his grandchildren.
Pat was a faithful part of the St. Ann's Parish and was an active member of the Cadillac Knight of Columbus Council 1224, where he served as third degree and fourth degree Knight. Pat will be deeply missed by many.
Pat is survived by his family: one daughter, Laurie (Corey) Long of Luther; two sons, Shawn (Natasha) Walsh and Brian Walsh all of Cadillac; nine grandchildren; Craig, Haley, Cecelia, Molly, Jake, Lucas, Josh, Ethan and Miranda; two great-grandchildren; six siblings, Virginia "Jen" (Ronald) Carrow, Rosemary (Frank) Godin, Michael Walsh, Tom (Geraldine) Walsh, Timothy (Eileen) Walsh and Amy (Paul) Palmer; many nieces and nephews; his former spouse, Karen Eley and her daughter, Dawn Blackmer; many other loving family members, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Katie Scott, and an infant brother, Kevin.
Visitation for friends and family washeld on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial took place on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11 a.m with visitation held one hour prior at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac, with Rev. Bryan Medlin acting as celebrant. Interment will take place at the Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Cadillac at a later date in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan and Michigan Right to Life.

Abbie Sunde Verner

Abbie Sunde Verner, 79, of Long Lake,  passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital with her daughters by her side.
She was born on July 3, 1937, in Brooklyn NY, the daughter of the late Einar Andrew and Miriam (Lathrop) Sunde. She attended St. Mary’s Girls School in Peekskill, NY, and graduated from Smith College, Northampton, MA, with a B.A in history in 1959.
In her early career she worked for Bristol-Meyers in New York City. She was the president and founder of Hamilton County Homemakers, a home health agency, one of the first in New York State. She was the director of Planned Parenthood of Hamilton County, 1973-1978, a teacher at Adirondack Mountain School in Long Lake, 1978 to 1981, and the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Director from 1984 to 1985.
Abbie directed development research offices for Union College 1989-1994 and the Albany Institute of History and Art,1994-1997. She was a senior associate at Prospect Foundation Research 1996-2000.
At the time of her death, Abbie Verner was the archivist for the Town of Long Lake.
Her non-profit organization experiences include the Schenectady Boys Club, Schenectady Museum and Planetarium and the Olympic and Winter Sports Museum.
Abbie was appointed Commissioner of the Schenectady Historic District Commission and served as the first female president of the Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks.
She served as the president of the Long Lake Historical Society, and she was a board member of the Long Lake Public Library and the Adirondack Park Institute.
In her youth, Abbie enjoyed spending time with her grandparents at Lake Minnewaska and summers at Timber Trails in Sherman, CT. In the 1970s she got the acting bug and performed with the Mountain Echo Theater Company and later AMS Enterplay in Long Lake.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased on May 8, 1989, by her husband, William Kemble Verner, whom she married on April 28, 1962, in Brooklyn.
 Survivors include her daughters Victoria Sandiford (William) and Alexandra Roalsvig (Paul) of Long Lake; her brother John Sunde (Anita) of Vancouver, Washington; and her grandchildren, Henry Sandiford, Leif and Abbie Roalsvig of Long Lake, and Emmett Sandiford of Albany.
Abbie will forever be known for her sense of humor, rousing dinner parties, laughter, and love of the Adirondacks and Long Lake history.
Abbie was especially devoted to her family. For the last seven years, she lived in "Vernerville" in Long Lake, where she and her daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren lived lovingly in neighboring houses. Friends and there were many always knew they could drop by unannounced and find a warm, occasionally chaotic welcome. Food, drink, and laughs for all.
Abbie is reunited with Bill. They have never been apart in spirit, and now they are together forever.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 11 a.m., St. Henry’s Parish Center in Long Lake. Burial will be at a later date at the Long Lake Cemetery.

Sally Kopp

Sally Kopp
Sally H. Kopp passed away peacefully in her home on February 3, 2017 at the age of 71.
She was born on January 20, 1946 in Tupper Lake   to Morris and Kathleen “Sally” Sequin.
Sally attended Tupper Lake High School and went on to North Country Community College. She married Jon Kopp, and together they had two children, Jonn and Kimberly. They also hosted Fresh Air Children for years.
Sally was a very dedicated mother, staying home to raise her children when they were young, and at times working the family antique store. Later she worked for the county, helping families to provide healthy meals on limited budgets before she went to work at Sunmount DDSO where she worked until her retirement.
After retiring from Sunmount, she kept busy with cleaning camps and became a foster grandparent at the Tupper Lake Central School district. She was a kind soul who enjoyed simple things. Much of Sally’s time was spent volunteering. She helped out in many local places like the food pantry, the Wild Center, The Tin Man Triathlon and Relay for Life. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She liked flowers, farming, knitting and horses. She had a total love and understanding for all, but her favorite thing was being with family.
She is survived by her son Jonn, daughter, Kimberly and grandchildren Jon Thomas, Garrett and Tamika.
Sally also has two great grandchildren, Kobe and Lyrica.
Calling hours will be held at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake, from 2p.m.  to 4p.m. on Wednesday February 8 with a service following at 4p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Lodge in Burlington VT.

Doris "Dorie" LaMare

Mr. Doris LaMare passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, February 4, 2017 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid.
Doris was born in Tupper Lake, NY on July 24, 1936, to Homer and Dezira LaMare of Tupper Lake (Faust), NY. Doris never married, but selflessly dedicated his life to the care for his mother and sister.
Doris graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1955 and in 1957 joined the United States Air Force as a Reservist with Academic intentions and in 1961 was promoted to Airman First Class of the 7405th Support Squadron. His official title was Aircraft Reciprocating Engine Mechanic.
In June of 1960 he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal Clasp for demonstrating exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity during his service.
Doris returned to civilian life at 105 Washington Street Faust, N.Y. in June of 1961 and worked for Johnson Brothers and eventually Tupper Lake Supply. He was exceptionally talented and skilled when it came to improving efficiencies around the home and what stood out the most were his arts and craft skills.
Many may remember the intricate and fun Christmas displays of small towns, nativity scenes, and fun villages that even included town patrons and mountain skiers. It seemed like on certain days that whole town would come down to see what the clever Doris had put together. On top of that, Doris was also a skilled outdoorsman, enjoying the many wonderful opportunities the Adirondacks provided.
Doris is survived by his older brother Homer (Bucko) and wife Mae LaMare and sister-in Law Theresa LaMare of Tupper Lake.
Also survived are his many loving nieces and nephews.
Predeceased to Doris were his sisters Violet (Vi) and Dezira (Sis), brothers Lee (Pap) and Wilfred (Pete), mother Dezira and father Homer- all of Tupper Lake.
There will be no immediate calling hours or services. In the spring the family intends to have small service to pay respects at his final resting place at Holy Name cemetery.

Laeticia M. Poirier, 96

Laeticia M. Poirier, 96, passed away on January 24, 2017. Per her wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place in the spring at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
Laeticia was born on December 31, 1920 in St. Augustine Canada the daughter of Paul and Charlotte Poirier. She married Levi Poirier in Tupper Lake. She was a homemaker and loved watching and feeding the birds and working in her flower garden.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Jock and Companion Roger Demers of Tupper Lake, NY; Lorraine and Dale Pitcher of Potsdam, NY: Barbara Baranoski of New Hope, PA, Nancy and Norman McFaul of Jay, N.Y., Debi and Dale Mitchell of Free Water, OR, Sonny and Gina Poirier of Tupper Lake, Richard Poirier of Tupper Lake, William Poirier of Potsdam,  Vicky and husband Greg Tarbox of Ogdensburg, N.Y., several grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and a son Ronald.

Kathryn “Kate” Doherty

Kathryn "Kate" Doherty grew up in the Bowne Park neighborhood in Flushing, New York. Born on October 2, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Ross and Julia (Condon) Rickert.
She and her family experienced life during the Great Depression along with millions of Americans. It wasn't uncommon for her family to invite strangers in need to join their dinner table simply because helping others was a part of their lives. It was a time that shaped Kate's life.
Kate graduated from Flushing High School where she was a member of the swim team. She loved ice skating on the pond in Bowne Park during the winter and in summer playing softball and swimming at Rocky Point in Port Jefferson, Long Island. And while she had aspirations to become a nurse, she graduated from Grace Institute in Manhasset where she learned stenography and bookkeeping.
She met Joseph “Joe” Warren Doherty during World War II. Joe served in the Army-Air Force in Italy. When he returned home, they married in 1947 and started their family.
In 1963, life took them to Delmar, New York where they lived for over 20 years. When it was time for their children's college, Kate began working for Dr. Turk, a local orthodontist and she continued just long enough to fund tuition for all three of her very appreciative children.
In 1964, a spur of the moment decision to bid on land at Sekon Lodge on Upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks opened a new chapter in their lives. Four years later a cabin was built in the woods and Kate called it home every summer until the age of 90.
A lifetime of friendships and a deep love for the peace and beauty of the Adirondacks was born. Kate proved her independence, fearlessness and self-reliance through many memorable wildlife experiences (large and small) at "the Camp.”
Kate and Joe travelled extensively throughout the USA, Europe, Australia, New and Ireland . After Joe's death, Kate continued her travels throughout the world with her dear friend, Gloria to China, Russia and many places beyond.
Kate loved a good game of bridge, attending the Naples Symphony, hearing the Boston Pops and collecting shells along her walks on the beach.
Her faith was central throughout her life and after Joe's death she spent countless hours volunteering at her church, preparing taxes for seniors, teaching English to migrant workers, working at the Bonita Springs Historical Association and at the Chamber of Commerce. And in her later years, she volunteered at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Kate was an active member of the parishes of St. Thomas in Delmar, NY, St. Leo's in Bonita Springs, FL and St. Alphonsus in Tupper Lake.
Kate and Joe were married for 40 years until his death on January 3, 1988.
Kate was reunited with Joe on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. She died peacefully with her family by her side at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester. She was 94.
She was predeceased by her parents, Julia Condon Rickert and Roswell Drake Rickert, as well as her brothers, John and Douglas.
Kate is survived by her son, David and his wife, Patricia Doyle Doherty, her daughter, Ellen and her husband, Paul Barnett, her daughter, Marianne Doherty and her spouse, David Hubbell, as well as her grandchildren Daniel (and Chelsie) Doherty, Jacqueline Doherty, Colleen Doherty, Jessica Barnett and Caroline Hubbell. She is also survived byher brand new great-granddaughter, Ebba born on December 16.
Family and friends honored and remembered Kathryn's life when they gathered for calling hours at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center on Sunday, January 29 from 2p.m. to 4pm. and again on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to The Chapel at Notre Dame du lac Assisted Living Facility, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Fr. James Caldarella. Burial is Saturday, February 4 at 11a.m. in Naples Memorial Gardens, Naples, Florida.

Amy Symonds

Amy Lynn Becker Symonds died unexpectedly at home Friday, January the 27, 2017. Born in Saranac Lake, December 15, 1967 to Robert and Mary Becker of Tupper Lake.
Amy married Rocky Symonds, the love her life, on April 25, 1992.
She graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1986 and received her associate’s degree from NCCC in 1988. She worked for the Saratoga Post Office as a mail carrier for the past 17 years.
Amy loved doing crafts, working with plastic canvas and making jewelry to give to her loved ones. She enjoyed being outside in her flower gardens, collecting precious moments figurines, watching investigative type TV shows and playing with the family's dogs.
Her most cherished times were spent with her husband and kids. Amy always put others before herself. She enjoyed making others happy.
Special memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband and soul mate Rocky, son Rocky Jon and daughter Kayla of South Glens Falls, her father Robert Becker and partner Maureen of Florida, her brothers David and Mark of Tupper Lake, her father in law and mother in law Roger and Bunny Symonds, brother in law and sister in law Roger Jr. and Lisa of Vermontville and sister in law and brother in law Sandee and Eric Stevens of Clifton Park.
She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, niecesand nephews.
Amy was preceded in death by her sister Joanie, her mom Mary and her brothers Paul and Bobby.

Denis R. DesOrmeaux

Our Dad, Denis R. DesOrmeaux, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2017, surrounded by his family, prayerfully by his side. He was born in the summer of 1937 in Detroit, MI to Albert and Gertrude (Potvin) DesOrmeaux.  He grew up in Tupper Lakeand raised his family in both Plattsburgh, NY and DeLand, FL.This is his family's love letter to him.
Dear Dad,
We want to express our deepest love and gratitude for the life lessons you have taught us through the years. We thank you for having a great sense of humor, sharing the laughs and fun-loving antics that made you the star in your own, aptly named, "Poor Bastard Productions". We have so many epic Dad and Gramdaddy stories to share with each other and your grandchildren. We thank you for teaching the game of cribbage to two generations, including how to skunk with gusto and kiss both arms in victory, while falling over with laughter. Thank you for sharing your love of music and playing guitar for us like you did in the family band with Papa, Nana and Aunt Colette. We were so happy to recently gift you with a new guitar and watched as you eyes lit up as you took it out of the case, held it and tuned it, just like you did in the good old days. We so regret that we were not aware of how truly ill you were on that happy day and how soon your presence would be gone from us.
You lived your life with a strong faith in God, country and the American dream, and encouraged us to pray for guidance in every situation. Your faith, grit and tenacity pulled us through some dark days, when all seemed lost.  As the loss of home, a successful business and the death of a beloved child overwhelmed us, you exemplified what it meant to truly rely on God for strength, hope and direction in the most dire of circumstances. We also want to thank you for accepting and supporting us in our choice of religion as we grew into adulthood. This is another way your love has blessed our lives.
We thank you for your service in the United States Marine Corps, where you learned pride, courage and 'Semper Fi.' You taught us how to stand up for ourselves and others and you were always there for us when we couldn't go it alone. You were always on our side and we were 'always on your mind'.
In your older years, even as your heart softened and illness challenged, you showed us what the 'Will to Live' truly meant and activated it every day to move forward in this life. It has been a privilege and an awe-inspiring journey to witness the countless times you miraculously bounced back from severe illness and even death itself, confounding the doctors in NY and VT who cared for you over the years. Even Hospice had to release you from their program after a year...now that was an amazing accomplishment!
We are so grateful for our time together, even though we are so heartbroken you have gone from us. But we know this life is temporary and look forward with the faith and hope we will be reunited again one day. Until then, 'Bye for Now', and 'Je T'aime Beaucoup'. We will hold you in our hearts until we hold you in our arms.

Denis' life will be remembered and celebrated by family and friends on June 10, 2017 from 1p.m. to 3p.m.in a Prayer Service at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake, NY.
Private Interment will follow at the St.Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on 24 Cliff Avenue in Tupper Lake. Denis' expressed wish was that folks in local nursing homes could get more phone calls and visits and perhaps get to hear his favorite local band, The Kitchen Band. That, he said, would make him very happy.

Lorie LaTray, 40

Lorie A. LaTray, born February 9, 1976, became an Angel on December 26, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late William LaTray, Jr. and Phyllis (Drasye) Crate. She resided in Piercefield as a young girl and then Tupper lake where she graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1995.
After high school she moved to North Carolina.  There she became a certified nurse's aide. She worked at several nursing homes there where she gained enormous experience. One home that really touched her and she talked about often was when she worked the Jewish Nursing Home.
She returned home in 2006 and began working for Mercy Living Center. She was loved by the residents and their families and did private duty work on the side for some of them.
Lorie's one motto was “you can go in with a frown and let them win or go in with a big smile and keep them guessing.” Her smile was infectious and she took such great care of everyone giving more at times than she had the energy for. She always had a radiant glow to her that made any sad day bright.
She made her home with her fiance, Calvin Hall, and five children, Tyler Exware (Taylor), Kimberly, Tyler, Brian, and Calvin Hall, Jr. She enjoyed keeping their summers filled with mini vacations at different campsites. She attended all the school activities she could and was a proud mom of all the children.
At the time of her death Lorie became an organ donator and will live on in someone else in need. That was her final and most important gift of all. Her young unnecessary death will help several people in the need of organs and tissue.
She is survived by her fiance Calvin Hall, her children, Tyler, Kimberly, Tyler, Brian and Calvin Jr.; her mother Phyllis (Steve) Crate, grandfather Donald Drasye, Aunts and Uncles Steven Drasye of VA, Karen Brownell (Jim),  Donald Drasye (Becky) and Robert LaTray (Julie). She has many cousns and friends that will miss hergreatly.
She was predeceased by her father William LaTray, Jr, her grandmother, Barbara Drasye,   her Aunt Bonita Christianson andgrandparents Bill and Marjorie LaTray and Uncle Jim LaTray.

Joyce “Shirley” Hauser

On December 27, 2016 Joyce "Shirley"Hauser passed, leaving us to join her late husband Walter "Bud" Hauser, the love of her life.
 She departed peacefully, in her home, with her beloved daughter Charlene and special niece Lisa by her side.
Shirley was born in Tupper Lake on August 6, 1928 to Adolphus and Josephine King Varden, and lived here her entire life. She attended school in Tupper Lake, skipping a grade and often not having to take final exams. She aspired to be a school teacher but had to leave school and join the work force at age 15 after her father passed away.
Shirley worked at many of the old hotels in town as a waitress, as a floor supervisor at the dress factory, and as a cafeteria aide at school. It was a delight to her in the years following when she would encounter past students who would refer to her as the "favorite lunch lady". Most important to her were the roles of homemaker, wife, and mother...and she was the best!
Shirley met Bud while working at the OWD after WWII and they were married on May 17, 1947. They were blessed to have over 66 years of a truly loving marriage prior to his passing on February 14, 2014. They went on many memorable vacations and, after Bud retired, enjoyed winters at their home in Florida.
Along with Charlene and Lisa she is also survived by her brother Roger and his wife Vickie, her brother Clifford, and many nieces and nephews, all dearly loved. She was predeceased by her siblings Irvin, Kenny, Ruth, Jerry, Wanda, and Bob.
Shirley wished to be cremated with no viewing or services at this time. Her ashes will be buried with her husband Bud in Holy Name Cemetery, following a memorial mass the weekend of August 6, 2017. A notice will be posted in the Free Press with details at a later date. If you would like, donations in her name to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad would be much appreciated.

Beverley Borgman Harris, 81

Beverley Borgman Harris, 81, who is remembered most for her servant heart, generosity, and warm hospitality died on December 8 at the Pinebrook Center in Venice, Florida. Born in Minneapolis, MN on May 5, 1935, she is the daughter of the late George and Alice (Hanson) Borgman. Having grown up in a military family she attended twelve different schools before graduating from Washburn High School (Minneapolis, MN), and then attended the University of California (Tokyo, Japan) and University of Colorado (Boulder, CO).
Her career included the distinction of being the first woman to be appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Environmental Conservation for Intergovernmental Relations in the state of New York. Beverley brought to that position a broad background of legislative and administrative experience with the State of New York as director of the Joint Legislative Committee, director of State and Local Relations for the State Assembly, staff director for the Assembly Majority Whip, and as administrative officer to a regional planning and project review agency. She later served as Executive Secretary for the Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board, and Executive Vice President for the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce. She had previous experience with private industry in the exploration departments of major oil companies, executive secretary in various law firms, and started her career as a civilian employee with the Military Intelligence Service Group in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean Conflict.
She founded and was president of the Clarkstown Women’s Republican Club of New City, NY, and was a member of the Federation of Women’s Republican Clubs of NYS and the National Federation of Republican Women.
After retiring from New York State politics, she and her husband, Glenn, moved to Florida in 1992 and set up residence in Bradenton and then Venice. They loved to entertain and were often found enjoying a morning round of golf (Bev held bragging rights for a hole-in-one). When Glenn died in 2002, she turned her attention to serving the community by bringing smiles to those in need in the persona of hospice clown “Flibbertigibit”. Her contribution earned her the President’s Volunteer Service award.
Beverley was predeceased by her first husband, Carl Sawaya, and is survived by her son John Sawaya (wife, Cynthia) and granddaughters Melissa Sawaya and Monica Resch (husband, John). She was predeceased by her second husband, New York State Assemblyman Glenn Harris, and survived by stepdaughter Glynn Kelli Best and step granddaughter Shari Lynn Ybarra (husband, Rocky Joe).  Bev is further survived by her brother, John Borgman, nieces Martha Nicely and Nancy McGruther, nephew John Borgman and their families. She was predeceased by her brother Warren Borgman and sister-in-law, Lois Borgman. Bev is also survived by her dear friends John Hatcher, Adele Naugle, and Carol Simon.
A Memorial Service was held at the Venice Presbyterian Church, 111 Firenze Ave., East Venice, FL 34285 on Saturday December 17 at 2p.m. A receptionfollowed at Jacaranda Trace, 3600 William Penn Way, Venice, FL 34293 on the second floor in the Rec Room. Marie (Sloat) Shofi

Marie (Sloat) Shofi, 75, of White Plains, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, surrounded by her family.  Marie was a kind, thoughtful and giving soul and she will be sorely missed.
Marie was born to Giaconda and Charles Sloat in 1941 and lived for years in Harrison, N.Y.  She enjoyed outdoor activities such as ice skating and skiing, as well as being an avid Girl Scout.  During her time at Harrison High School, she participated in many activities, including the chorus, majorettes and band.  
After graduation, Marie married Neil Shofi who owned the Harrison Sport Shop.  They brought up three sons who and enjoyed summers in Tupper Lake where they owned and operated Three Pillars for many years.  
She was employed by the Bank of New York where she was a Personnel Executive.  Later, she worked for the Harrison School District.  Marie loved spending time with her eight grandchildren and sharing her life lessons.
Marie is survived by her husband, Neil, sons- John (Connie) from Fredericksburg, VA; David (Leanne) from Ridgefield, CT; and Brian (Ruthie) from Ocean City, MD, and a sister Ann Acavell (Joseph).  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jack, Aislinn, Michael, Mallory, James, Peter and Luke.
Marie was pre-deceased by her parents and her sister, Clare.

Margaret Harrington LaRocque

Margaret LaRocque, 92, passed away Saturday evening, December 17, at her home in Long Lake.  
Born on June 26, 1924, in Mount Vernon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Andrew S. and Margaret (Csema) Mellow.  She graduated from the Mount Vernon High School in June 1942, and was a member of the National Honor Society.  
Margaret was employed as an executive secretary by Standard Oil Company of New York, until her marriage to George J. Harrington on October 5, 1945.  Following their marriage, they lived in Long Lake where together they owned and operated Harrington’s Garage and Marina.  She remained in Long Lake following Mr. Harrington’s death in January 1972.  She later married Paul L. LaRocque.
During her seven decades in Long Lake, she was active in many organizations including Mercy General Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the North Country Girl Scout Council, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Long Lake Central School Board, the Board of Directors of Home Health Care of Hamilton County, and the Board of Directors of the Long Lake Library, as well as numerous volunteer activities within the community.  
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, on April 5, 2002; her brother Andrew A. Mellow, and his wife Elizabeth.
Survivors include her three children, Eileen Wetmiller of Tierra Verde, FL, Anne Harrington of Fairfax, VA, and George Harrington III of Reston, VA; her sister, Irene Egan and her son Joseph of Palm Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren, Elaine Wetmiller, Erica (and Mark) Howard, Lindsay (and James) Reap, Meredith Harrington-Lynch, Owen Lynch, and Connor, Paige and Jordan Harrington.
Friends may call at 11a.m. on December 22, 2016, at St. Henry’s Parish Center in Long Lake.  A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at noon at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, with burial following in Long Lake Cemetery.  The family is planning a family and friends celebration in the spring.

Jeanne Yamrick

Jeanne Yamrick passed peacefully after a long illness on Sunday December 4 at Mercy Living Center.
Jeanne was born in Albany, New York on October 11, 1934 to Carroll and Helen McCoy.
She attended school in Albany and later graduated from Russell Sage College in 1958 where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Tupper Lake school system for 34 years until her retirement in 1996.
Jeanne was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 46 years, Walter Yamrick. She is survived by her son Mark (and Virginia) Yamrick of Tupper Lake, and her grandchildren Lindsay and Nathan Yamrick.
Jeanne (and Walter) traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states, and sixof the seven continents during their years of adventure. She was an active member of the United Community Church and choir for many years, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Memorial gifts may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, December 7 from 4p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Stuart- Fortune -Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake, with a service immediately following the calling hours at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.

Sherwood Joseph Clement

On November 28th Sherwood Joseph Clement, 77, native to Tupper Lake passed away. He was residing at the Alice Center in Malone,  under the care of Hospice shortly before his passing.
The son of Wilfred and Ruth White Clement, he was born on May 3rd, 1939. He attended the Tupper Lake School District. In his high school years, he was very involved in sports, both on and off the field. He was well known on the track and field team for his amazing pole vaulting skill.  He also played basketball, bowled, and was an amateur boxer with the Golden Gloves Amateur Boxing Association.
After completing high school, he worked with his father, Wilfred, painting local homes. He went on to work for Ron Tyson General Contracting, Tupper Lake Veneer Corp, and the Major Rod Company. When his eldest son, Bruce turned 14, he worked with his dad at the Tupper Lake Golf and Country Club
Sherwood was an avid outdoorsman. He loved bike riding, mountain climbing, fishing and berry picking. He also had a musical side where he enjoyed writing poetry and playing the guitar and piano.
 In 1961 he married Frances Elaine Cardinal. They had seven children. Bruce(Joanne Bilodeau) and Debra (Brent Pickering) of Tupper Lake, Pamela Warden of Cumming, GA and David (Laura Rogers) of Dawsonville, GA, and Matthew of Saranac Lake. He has 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Kirby and Terry, and a sister, Joan (Roger) Demers of Tupper Lake. 
His passing is mourned by his many friends of the Church of Jehovah Witnesses in Malone and Saranac Lake.
He was predeceased by his sons, Gary and Michael, his father, Wilfred and mother, Ruth White Clement, his brothers Kirby, Rolland, all of Tupper Lake, and sisters, Barbara(George) Hafford of Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Sally (Paul) Given of Cranberry Lake.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to Hospice. Their staff took outstanding care of our beloved father, brother and friend. If anyone would like to donate to a very special organization, we believe Hospice is very deserving. Arrangements are with the Stuart Fortune Keough Funeral Home. For those that would like to attend there will be a graveside service in the spring.

Neil U. Hollenbeck

Neil U. Hollenbeck, 35, son of Brian and Ann, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
Neil attended Tupper Lake High School/Boces building construction technology program, graduating in 1999.
Neil was employed from the age of 14 with his final employment being at Sunmount DDSO in the maintenance department. He enjoyed the company of his friends, music and outdoor activities all seasons.
Neil especially loved motorcycles from brand "X" to Harley Davidson. As he would say "ride it like you stole it". He lived life to the fullest with a positive attitude, never giving up. His life philosophy was your book is already written…….. every day you just turn another page.
Neil is survived by his parents, Brian and Ann, brother Scott (Tara) niece, Madison, and grandmother Theresa (Bedard) Albatys.  He is also survived byUncle Keith Hollenbeck, cousins, Corey and Jared, and Aunt Barbara, Uncle Bruce Hollenbeck (Tammy and her daughter Bree), Uncle Roger (Diane) Bedard, cousins Cathy and Kim, Uncle Michael (Nancy) Bedard, cousins, Calla, Sharon and John.
Neil leaves behind his faithful dog, Duke, and talkative Macaw, Sundance. Besties…. you know who you are. 
Last but not least, his Stewart's coffee family that touched his life everyday… valued more than you know. 
He was pre-deceased by grandparents, Kenneth and Alice Hollenbeck, Norman Bedard and cousin Raymond Bedard.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service at the Coreys cemetery is scheduled for Saturday, December 10 at 10 a.m. No reception, come as you are.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-lakes Humane Society, Tupper Lake or Saranac Lake rescue squad, Tupper Lake Police Department or the American Diabetes Association.

Death notice: Neil Hollenbeck

Word has been received of the death of Neil U. Hollenbeck of Tupper Lake. Neil passed away on Saturday, November 26.
Funeral arrangements were not available as of press time. A full obituary will appear in next week's edition of the Tupper Lake Free Press.

Susan Scotti, 61

Susan (Bonnabeau) Scotti, 61, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in her home surrounded by family. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Sue was born on March 24, 1955 in East Islip, N.Y. She lived in many places spending much of her childhood in New Rochelle, N.Y. Her family eventually moved to Hamburg NY where she lived before moving to Tupper Lake. It was during her childhood that she frequented Tupper Lake (Blue Jay Campsite) where she met and eventually married Frank Scotti.
While her children were young, Sue worked at the Holy Ghost Academy in the Pre-K classroom as a teacher's aide. During summer months Sue would be seen at the Blue Jay Campsite store welcoming customers. Blue Jay is also a family. Campers have returned year after year since Sue herself was a child. During the rest of the year she loved to travel to visit her children and grandchildren. She also loved to travel abroad, visiting Italy numerous times.
She would never take these trips without her husband Frank, who was always by her side.
Susan is survived by her husband Frank; sons, Jerry (Katie) Scotti and Frank Scotti (Andrew Lee); daughters, Sarah Scotti and Julie (Jason) Vogler as well as her grandchildren Lucia and Henry. She is also survived by brother, Gene (Eva) Bonnabeau of Newburgh N.Y., brother Blake (Sheila) Bonnabeau of Bethel, CT, sister Dorothy (Stephen) Tanneberger of Bethel, CT, and sister Beth Bonnabeau of New Milford CT, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Josephine (McCullough) and Eugene Bonnabeau.
Calling hours are scheduled from 4p.m. to 7p.m. on Sunday, November 20 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A mass will be celebrated Monday, November 21 at St. Alphonsus Church at 11a.m. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
