Sherwood Joseph Clement

On November 28th Sherwood Joseph Clement, 77, native to Tupper Lake passed away. He was residing at the Alice Center in Malone,  under the care of Hospice shortly before his passing.
The son of Wilfred and Ruth White Clement, he was born on May 3rd, 1939. He attended the Tupper Lake School District. In his high school years, he was very involved in sports, both on and off the field. He was well known on the track and field team for his amazing pole vaulting skill.  He also played basketball, bowled, and was an amateur boxer with the Golden Gloves Amateur Boxing Association.
After completing high school, he worked with his father, Wilfred, painting local homes. He went on to work for Ron Tyson General Contracting, Tupper Lake Veneer Corp, and the Major Rod Company. When his eldest son, Bruce turned 14, he worked with his dad at the Tupper Lake Golf and Country Club
Sherwood was an avid outdoorsman. He loved bike riding, mountain climbing, fishing and berry picking. He also had a musical side where he enjoyed writing poetry and playing the guitar and piano.
 In 1961 he married Frances Elaine Cardinal. They had seven children. Bruce(Joanne Bilodeau) and Debra (Brent Pickering) of Tupper Lake, Pamela Warden of Cumming, GA and David (Laura Rogers) of Dawsonville, GA, and Matthew of Saranac Lake. He has 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Kirby and Terry, and a sister, Joan (Roger) Demers of Tupper Lake. 
His passing is mourned by his many friends of the Church of Jehovah Witnesses in Malone and Saranac Lake.
He was predeceased by his sons, Gary and Michael, his father, Wilfred and mother, Ruth White Clement, his brothers Kirby, Rolland, all of Tupper Lake, and sisters, Barbara(George) Hafford of Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Sally (Paul) Given of Cranberry Lake.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to Hospice. Their staff took outstanding care of our beloved father, brother and friend. If anyone would like to donate to a very special organization, we believe Hospice is very deserving. Arrangements are with the Stuart Fortune Keough Funeral Home. For those that would like to attend there will be a graveside service in the spring.
