Geraldine “Jerrie” Walsh
Geraldine Walsh, known affectionately as Jerrie, was a beacon of resilience and adventure, whose presence filled any room with her witty humor and dedicated spirit. Born in Saranac Lake, New York on March 3, 1952, Geraldine made Tupper Lake her home for over fifty years, where her legacy as a beloved teacher at L.P. Quinn Elementary School will remain etched in the hearts of countless students and colleagues. She was a woman of unwavering faith, regularly attending church and instilling this dedication into her family and friends.
Geraldine was an adventurer at heart, she reveled in weekend trips to camp, snowmobiling, and four wheeling. As an enthusiastic member of the Cranberry Lake Mountaineers snowmobile club, she navigated the trails with the same passion and zeal she applied to every facet of her life. Her love for the outdoors extended beyond the snowy trails, as she spent countless hours brook trout fishing and tending to her garden. Geraldine possessed a zest for travel and embraced the thrill of road trips and overseas adventures. Yet, her love for adventure was matched only by her love for home, evidenced in her famous Dutch apple and blueberry pies and her competitive streak in cribbage. Geraldine was also an avid genealogist who spent countless hours researching her family and the families of everyone she loved.
Geraldine's resilient spirit and unfading smile were a testament to her love for life and those around her. What mattered most to Geraldine was the time spent with family and friends who became family. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years Thomas Walsh, her daughter, Erin (Joshua) LaLonde; sister, Marie VanNortwick; brother-in-law, Lutz Micheels; brother, Miles VanNortwick; sister-in-law, Sue VanNortwick, and numerous other family members who will forever remember her warmth, wit, and endless devotion. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, R. and Rose VanNortwick, her sister Sharon VanNortwick and several beloved in-laws.
