Marcella M. Gaudet

Marcella M. Gaudet peacefully passed away on January 18, 2025, in Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid, surrounded by family.

Marcella was born on April 26, 1927, in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Donat and Annette Genier Richer.

She graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1945 and earned her Registered Professional Nurse Degree at the School of Nursing Champlain Valley Hospital in 1948.

She married Howard on Sept 25, 1949, at St. Alphonsus Church, together they purchased the Waukesha Cabins on Tupper Lake and raised their family. She sold the Waukesha in 1983.

During this time she also pursued a nursing career at both Mercy General Hospital and at Sunmount DDSO to care and tend to the needs of the community of Tupper Lake.

During her later years, Marcella became a Foster Grandparent and for 10 years worked at Tupper Lake Elementary school. Throughout her life she also enjoyed traveling, cross country skiing, golf, playing cards, bingo and going to casinos. She loved spending time with her children but more importantly her grandchildren and beloved pets.

She is survived by her children, James (Debbie) Gaudet of Rochester, N.Y., Peggy (Jim) Tooley of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Jerry (Elizabeth) Gaudet of Lynnbrook, N.Y., Larry (Paula) Gaudet of Greensboro, GA, and Noonie (Mark Purcell) Gaudet of Boston, MA; her sister Sue (Mark) Lavigne, of Tupper Lake; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Howard Gaudet in 1981; a son Thomas in 1960; her parents; and her brothers Bert and Raymond and sisters Theresa, Madeline and Janet.

Calling hours will be held, Friday January 25, 2025, at the Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake from 11:30a.m. to 1:30p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held immediately afterward at 2p.m. at St Alphonsus Church with Rev James Teti officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
