Beatrice A Whitman (Dukette), 91, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital in the town of Elizabethtown, N.Y.
Born on March 1, 1933 in the town of Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Viola Dukette.
Beatrice met her husband, Richard E Whitman Sr. at the Veteran’s Administration hospital (now known as Sunmount DDSO) where she worked.
On August 14, 1954 they were married at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, NY. They made their home at 52 Prospect Street of Tupper Lake where they raised four children.
Beatrice enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, with her family, going south with her husband in the winter, enjoyed playing bingo and games at the casino.
She is predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Whitman Sr. in 2007, daughter in law Karen Whitman in 2015 and her mother Viola, her siblings, Elizabeth (PiKa), Esther, Reta, Jean, Lorretta, James and Earl.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Whitman and her husband Ronald Beaupre of Massachusetts; three sons, Richard Jr. and his wife Terry of Tupper Lake; Roy and his companion Patti Garrelts of Tupper Lake and Robert and his wife Lisa of Greenwich, N.Y.; one sister, Lynda Gaff and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
