Jewett “Iggy” W. Tarbox, age 88, formerly of Long Lake, passed away on July 13, 2024 at his home in Clifton Park surrounded by his loving family. Burial will take place in Gale Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Kalina, Rebecca Tarbox, Holly Brownell and her husband Adam; his grandchildren, Travis (Andrew) Kalina and Lacey (Cameron) Kalina, Eric and Kaylynn Tarbox, Zachary Jacobs and Tanner Brownell; great grandson, Joseph Tarbox; her sister-in-law, Clara and husband Phillip Allen; brother-in-law, Peter Cooper; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mabel Tarbox; his daughter, Deborah; son-in-law, Nelson Kalina, granddaughter, Heather Cook, along with several siblings.
Iggy was born on August, 3, 1935, in Tupper Lake, the son of the late William and Lola Hamilton Tarbox. He graduated from Tupper Lake Central School in 1953. Iggy joined the U.S. Army where he served until his honorable discharge. After the military, he went to work for NYSEG as a meter reader in Long Lake.
A dedicated outdoorsman, Iggy found solace and excitement in hiking, often trekking through the serene paths of Mount Arab several times a week. His love for nature extended to his favorite pastimes of fishing and hunting, where he could be found with a rod in hand or quietly tracking game in the woods.
