Gloria Gravlin

Dan McClelland

Gloria Gravlin died peacefully in her home on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Born February 27, 1945, in Tarboro, NC, Gloria was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Lillian Ruth Dixon.

Gloria grew up in North Carolina, and later moved to Tupper Lake, where she put down roots and raised her family. During this time, she earned a living at Sunmount, DDSO, where she worked for 33 years, caring for the developmentally disabled.

When not at work, Gloria enjoyed traveling to see family with her significant other, Bill. She also enjoyed going to the casino with him, family, and friends. She was always up for a trip to “playground.”

Gloria is survived by her children: Stephen (Pam) Whitley, Scott (Melissa) Gravlin, and Cecilia (Bill) Sparks; her grandchildren include Vanessa (Brad) Methot, Meagan (Bryan) Lucey, *Paul Whitley*, Eric (McKenzie) Whitley, Christopher Hober, Katelin Armenta, Logan Phillips; step-grandchildren Keegan and Kollin Bombard, and Kamron and Kaiden Sarvis.

Gloria’s great-grandchildren include Alyssa, Riley, Hayden, Hunter, Chloe, Aubreigh, Abel, Franklin, Bryson, Ryker, Fiona, Maddox, Kemper, Skye, Maia, Oaklynn and Conner. She also leaves behind three loving stepsons: John (Andrea), Chris (Karla), and Dave (Whitney S) Williams and their extended families. In addition, Gloria leaves her baby brother, John (JT) Dixon, his wife and family, and several other nieces and nephews both in North Carolina and New York.

Gloria was pre-deceased by her parents, her three sisters (Doris, Faye, and Sue), her life partner, Bill Williams, a beloved grandson (Stephen Paul Whitley), and her dog, Mouser.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad, their many service calls, compassionate and professional responses, and their dedication to all who live in this community. It takes a very special person to care for others and make them feel important. Calling hours were on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Frary Funeral Home, 10a.m. to 12p.m. A funeral service immediately followed. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to either the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or the Tri-Lakes Humane Society. https://www.trilakeshumanesociety.com
