Sheila Staves Chase

Word has been received of the passing of Sheila Staves Chase of Richmondville, N.Y. on July 22, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. after a short illness.

Sheila was born in Tupper Lake on January 4, 1965 to Richard and Beverly Pierce Staves. As a young child Sheila lived in Tupper Lake, California and Mystic, CT before coming back to Tupper Lake in late fall of 1972. She attended Holy Ghost Academy and Tupper Lake Jr. Sr. High School, graduating in 1984.

Sheila left the area in the late 1980's moving to several different places, working in restaurants as a hostess and then in retail. It was in Richmondville where she met and married her current husband Dale Chase. They were married on July 21, 2016.

Sheila is survived by her husband Dale, her father Richard (Dick) Staves, her step-mother Gwen Staves, brothers Michael (Sheila) Staves of Galway, N.Y., James Staves of Bloomingdale, and sister Sarah Sherbert of New London, CT. She is also survived by her Aunt Carol and Uncle George of Plattsburgh, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sheila was predeceased by her mother and Grandparents Edward and Yvette Staves and Thatcher and Mildred Pierce.

There will be no services as per her request. Arrangements for her cremation was handled by White Oak Cremation, Rochester, N.Y.
