Betty Lorraine Bencze, 91, of Tupper Lake, NY passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 peacefully at home. Calling hours for Betty will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake with a graveside service immediately following.

Betty is survived by her three sons: Douglas and his wife Sarah, Calvin and his companion Toni Reandeau and Glenn and his wife Marci, all of Tupper Lake; six grandchildren: Ashley Catron, Mackenzie Boushie, Willie Bencze, Charlie Bencze, Grant Bencze and Colin Bencze as well as several great-grandchildren and another on the way.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband Frank Bencze, her two brothers: Donald Bedore and Henry “Neg” Bedore and her three sisters: Gloria Rieck, Bernadette Dattola and Greta Rovito.

Betty was born in Tupper Lake, on July 6, 1930, the daughter of Duffy and Emma (Boisjolie) Bedore. She graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1949.

Betty married Frank Bencze on October 27, 1956 at Holy Name Church and together they raised a beautiful family. The first time they met in June of 1953 at the Oval Wood Dish Corp. office, they were sure that they were meant for each other and they went on to enjoy 64 years of marriage.

Betty was employed for many years by the Oval Wood Dish Corporation as a secretary. She was also employed by the Tupper Lake Veneer Corp. as a secretary. Upon her retirement, she operated Village Yarns out of her home.

Betty enjoyed taking care of her home and family as well as knitting. She also volunteered for many years arranging staffing for the ticket booths for the Tupper Lake Woodsmen’s Association.
