Joyce (Barrett) McClelland, 95
Dan McClelland
Joyce (Barrett) McClelland passed away peacefully early Monday morning, November 22, at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital in Napanee, Ontario at the age of 95.
Joyce made many trips to Tupper Lake over the years to visit her son, Publisher Dan McClelland and daughter in law, Judy, and their family.
Joyce lived an incredibly active life right up until the pandemic which kept her housebound and away from all the community activities and away from all the many friends she so enjoyed.
Each week she looked forward to video calls with her Great Grandson Remi.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Harold, in 1973 and Robert Clark in 2007.
Joyce was the loving mother of Dan McClelland (Judy) of this village, Kelly Roantree (Stephen) of Napanee, Patricia McClelland (David), previously of Calgary, Alberta but most recently of Napanee, and Tim McClelland (Donna), Revelstoke, B.C.
Joyce will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Andrew McClelland (Faith), Benjamin McClelland, all of Tupper Lake, Karyn (Hasan) Roantree of Toronto, Ontario, Sam (Jennifer) Roantree of Napanee, Ian (Abby) Roantree of Kingston, Ont., Michael McClelland of Vancouver, B.C., Katelyn (Chad) Holland of Revelstoke, B.C. She cared deeply too about her great grandchildren and longed to be with them. She liked them to call her “G.G.”- short for great grandmother.
Joyce leaves behind too a dear sister, Eleanor McLaughlin (late Clare) of Napanee. She was predeceased by siblings Mary Jordan and her husband Jim, Jerry Barrett (Ruth) and Eileen Barrett.
She is fondly remembered by two sisters-in-law, Gladys McClelland of Kingston, Ontario and Joyce McClelland of Moscow, Ontario.
She will also live on in the hearts of her many loving nieces and nephews and by the members of the extended Clark family.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 3 from 11a.m. to 12:30p.m. at the Wartman Funeral Home- Napanee chapel. A service to celebrate Joyce's rich and full life will follow there at 1p.m.
As per provincial health regulations, masks are required, as are vaccine passports, which will be checked upon entry to the funeral home.
Those friends and family members wishing to attend Joyce's funeral service by Zoom, can register by visiting Joyce's obituary page on the funeral home's web site and clicking the link.
Memorial gifts may be made to the L&A Hospital Foundation or the Cancer Society, in memory of Joyce. On-line condolences and donations can also be made at www.wartmanfuneralhomes.com.
