N. Thelma “Tama” Valley, 94, of Schenectady died on December 4, 2020 at home with her children at her bedside.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut on April 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Claude Grignon and Mildred Amelia (Black) Grignon. She grew up in Tupper Lake and moved to Schenectady in her teens. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School.

She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family.

Tama married Gerald Valley in 1948. They spent 58 years of marriage together, until his death in 2006. They now are reunited forever.

Tama was an avid gardener, loved butterflies and the color purple. She loved going to Tupper Lake every summer and camping at The Birches and later Blue Jay Campsite where she had many friends. She loved the Adirondacks.

Tama is survived by her children, Taire (Howard) Pulver of Georgia and Todd, her caregiver, (Katie) Valley of Charlton; grandchildren, Alan Pethick and Brent (Kim) Pethick both of TN, Cory (Keri) Pethick of GA, Natalie Valley and Hunter Valley, both of Charlton, and Jennifer (Joe) Vendetti of Schenectady; great grandchildren, Bella, Savana, Ava, Cody, and Payton Pethick, Brennan (fiancé, Serena), Lexi and Nadia Vendetti and great- great grandchild, Gino Vendetti.

The family would like to thank Schenectady Community Hospice for all of their help during this transition for our mother.

Memorial services will be held in the spring 2021 – date to be determined later.
