Douglas Earl Blodgett, age 81, of Long Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Mercy Living Center, in Tupper Lake NY, following a long illness.
After high school he entered the Air Force and was stationed at Alconbury Air Force Base in England, where he met his wife Patricia. Following his most recent employment history of Oneida LTD Silversmiths, and NYE Ford, he and his wife Patricia retired to his favorite location in the Adirondacks.
Douglas’ hobbies included, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor endeavors. He was the founder of Big Brook Hunting Club in Hamilton County.
Douglas is survived by his wife Patricia Blodgett of Long Lake, his daughter Annice Smith and her husband Murray Smith and his son, Kendrick Blodgett and wife, Stacy Blodgett. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren: Whitney Smith and her husband Victor, Hannah Smith and her fiancé Carson Ransford, Austin Blodgett and wife Mckay, granddaughter Hailey Blodgett and great grandson Nash Blodgett.
Surviving nieces and nephews include Judy Duval, Brian Nadeau, Wayne Nadeau, and Valerie Nadeau. He was preceded in death by his parents Kendrick and Dorothy Blodgett, his sister, Mary Lou Chellis, her son Roderick Nadeau, and beloved dogs.
The family of Douglas will be holding a graveside burial and celebration at Long Lake Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary-Stuart Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
