Juanita "Thelma" Gagnier, 96, of Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake.
Born in Tupper Lake on January 26, 1921, she was the daughter of William and Juanita (Savard) Francis. She married Leon Gagnier on July 8, 1940 at Holy Name Church in Faust, NY. He predeceased her on April 18, 1986.
Thelma graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1938. She worked 25 years at the Oval Wood Dish Company and seven years at the Holy Ghost Academy in the cafeteria. In the fall of 1965, Leon and Thelma moved to Lake George, NY and she became employed by W.T. Grant Co. for 10 years and four years at Ames when Grants was bought out. In June of 1980, Thelma went to work for Charles R. Wood Enterprises and retired in 1998. Thelma enjoyed bowling and golfing.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by two sisters, Geraldine Godin and Lita Demars.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Stuart- Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A graveside service will take place at 11a.m. on Wednesday April 26 at Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
