Warren W. Churco, 80
Warren W. Churco, 80, of Brooksville, Florida (formerly of Tupper Lake), died peacefully in Florida on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Warren was born in Tupper Lake on March 26, 1937 to Lawrence and Eva (Proulx) Churco.
He attended Tupper Lake High School and was the first student to be inducted into the Tupper Lake Honor Society in 1954. He played football, basketball, participated in track and was a member of the drama club.
He graduated from high school in 1955, then went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve. He entered active duty in Germany from 1956-1958 and went on to serve a total of 12 years in the Reserves and was an American Legion member.
In September, 1958 he married Judith LaVallee and together they had seven children: Edith, Julie, Marcie, John, Warren (Sam), Anne and Jay. He worked for the Altamont Dairy for several years before becoming a New York State Trooper in February 1966, serving thereuntil his retirement in 1986.
He resided in Tupper Lake most of his life but enjoyed traveling around the country, Europe, Australia, Alaska and eventually calling Florida home for the past nine years. While there, he met and married Norma Shirey. He stayed active with his love of fishing, casinos, gardening, billiards, Players Variety Show and participating in many social activities and events. But his biggest love was coming back to Tupper to visit his many grandchildren,great grandchildren and extended family- more than 37 in all.
Warren lovedthe Adirondacks, hunting and fishing (thank you, God) and he was a strict prohibitionist.   Tupper Lake was his forever home. He loved to cook, entertain, tell amazing stories and crack a joke or two. He had a zest for life and he was so proud of his family.
He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter Julie, brothers Benjamin and John, and sisters Thelma, Priscilla, Elizabeth, Dorothy and Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, sister Patricia Bedore, brother James Churco, his daughters Edith Demarse and husband, Len, of Malone, Marcie Churco and her partner John Neal of Riverside, CA, Anne Churco and her partner Daryl Wohlfarth of Tupper Lake, sons John and wife Bonnie Churco of Colton, Sam Churco and wife Kristin Aldrich of Saranac Lake and Jay and wife, Shannon, Churco of Briggsville, WI and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Cliff Ave, Tupper Lake on Thursday, April 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be at St. Alphonsus Church on Friday, April 28 at 1p.m. and a celebration of life gathering at the VFW immediately following.
