Annual Art Show returns to Tupper Arts

by Dan McClelland

The Tupper Arts headquarters on Park Street has been a busy place in recent weeks as Evie Longhurst and her team of enthusiastic volunteers have been working hard to prepare for the annual Tupper Lake Art Show. It’s an event with more than a half century of tradition here.

This year’s show which features dozens and dozens of pieces by talented local and area artists opened to the public with a reception last Wednesday evening.

For years the art show was sponsored for years by the Tupper Lake Library and held in its basement community room.

The lighting in the basement quarters didn’t do some of the excellent pieces justice, but with the robust lighting and miniature spot lights in the modern lighting system of the Tupper Arts gallery, each piece jumps off the walls and viewers get a better sense of the quality they possess.

The local arts organization took it over several years ago and moved it to its quarters on Park Street. It has blossomed under Tupper Arts stewardship, becoming one of the big draw cards to Park Street for residents and visitors alike.

The show runs through mid-July.
