Robert Magrino, Jr.
Bobby Magrino passed away on February 23, 2026, with his wife, Susie, by his side at their winter home in Sedona, AZ.
His passing followed a heroic 12-year battle with a rare form of blood cancer and its complications.
Bobby was born and raised in Tupper Lake, the son of the late Robert and Pauline Magrino in 1954.
His passion for skiing started at a very young age when he and his brother, Scott, and sister Sue, along with their father began skiing at Big Tupper where their dad was on the volunteer ski patrol. Over the years, he loved to share memories of skiing with his many hometown friends.
In 1973, he migrated to Colorado, starting in Gunnison and then Summit County where he has lived for over 50 years.
His 41-year career at Loveland Ski Area began as a lift operator moving quickly to Lift Manager to Director of Mountain Operations. He was totally dedicated to Loveland where he was admired and respected by all the employees as well as the Loveland regulars.
He loved his job and commented often that he had the best job in the world, skiing every day in that graceful Stein Erikson- style of his.
He and Susie had one child, Sonny, and the three of them camped all across the western states from Canada to Mexico. His favorite interests ranged from skiing to hiking to mountain and dirt biking, annual trips to Lake Powell and following Sonny’s participation in ice hockey and lacrosse.
Bobby was one of the warmest, most generous and kindest friends ever.
He is survived by his wife, Susie, and his siblings, Scott, Sue and Jana and their families. He had a great sense of humor which he kept hidden behind his quiet façade. He will be greatly missed by all who knew them.

A Celebration of Life will be held in June in Colorado.
