Joseph Gadway, 68
Joseph Gadway, 68, of Piercefield passed away on Thursday morning, September 11, 2025 after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer.
Born September 28, 1956, to Freda and Harold Gadway, he served in the U.S. Navy for two years until the passing of his father, at which point he received a general discharge to help his mother. Joe married his wife, Amy, in 1988 and they raised three children together: Dan Gadway, April Roscoe and Jeff Roscoe.
He began his career at Sunmount DDSO in 1986, where he remained until his retirement in 2017. After his retirement, he built a house with Dan, which, before his passing, he referred to as one of the highlights of his life. He enjoyed working with his hands, helping others, and he especially enjoyed visiting with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife; his three children; sisters, Betty (Joe) Kenniston and Gladys (Tommy) Scott; and his grandchildren, Nero Bernard, Sophia Borden and Chelse Roscoe. Joe was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Fred. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.
There will be no calling hours, per his wishes. There will be a graveside service at the Gale Cemetery on Thursday, September 18 at 11a.m.
