Richard was born on November 7, 1934, in Piercefield, NY, the son of Francis and Hermine David Beauchamp. Dick attended Tupper Lake High School. He was an outstanding three-sport athlete for football, basketball, and track. In recognition of his exceptional athleticism, he was inducted into the Tupper Lake High School hall of fame as an outstanding athlete. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1955. He continued on to Camden Prep School where he played football. Richard enlisted in the US Army in Sept 30, 1953 where he served in the Korean War; he was honorably discharged in June, 1958. Richard married Ann J. LaVallee on September 20, 1958 at St. Alphonsus Church. He worked for the Town of Altamont as a mechanic for over 25 years. When he retired from the Town, he then began working as a mechanic for over a decade at the Tupper Lake Country Club.
Dick enjoyed being outside. When he was younger, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. You could often see him golfing, snowmobiling and four wheeling. His metal work is seen in many camps throughout the Adirondacks, in people’s homes, and it graces our town. In addition to metal working, he also enjoyed playing cribbage.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad and the Fire Department.
