Robert “Bob” Pelno, 91

Robert “Bob” C. Pelno, age 91, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Bob was born on July 15, 1933 in Tupper Lake to the late Floyd Joseph and Florence Mary (Savard) Pelno and attended Tupper Lake Central School. Mr. Pelno served in the United States Navy from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1958. He was a machinist aboard the destroyer, John R. Craig 885 and the USS Bradford 545. After that he served in the National Guard for 3 years. He married Sarah “Sally” Northrup on February 4, 1989. Sally passed away on November 3, 2023.

Mr. Pelno worked for Newton Falls Paper Mill for 35 years, first in production, then in the Electric Shop the last 8 years. He enjoyed camping on Crooked Creek, watching television, and hunting and fishing. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion.

His survivors include his five children, Clayton and Laurie Bright, Robbie Pelno, Clayton Pelno and George Terrell, Thomas and Jessica Pelno, and Jennifer Pelno and Doug Roberts; his step children, Danny and Maryann Foley, Kenny and Trish Foley and Denise and Jeff Regan. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob is predeceased by his wife, Sarah “Sally”; parents and his brothers, Bill, Harry, Larry, Don, Lorne, and Ivan Pelno.

There will be a graveside service for Bob on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hubert’s Cemetery in Star Lake with military honors. A Celebration of Bob’s life will follow at the American Legion in Star Lake. Arrangements are with French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake.
