Michael Barten
Michael Barten, born December 17, 1954, to Fletcher and Joyce (Johnston) Barten of Dayton, New York, passed away Saturday November 16, 2024.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose heart of gold, witty sense of humor, and deep compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his mother, Joyce (Johnston) Barten (June 1985), and his father, Fletcher Barten (February 1987). Michael is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Patricia (Sommer) Barten; his sons and their families: Andrew and Raven of Point Pleasant, N.J., Paul and Tiana of Plattsburgh, Thomas and Catherine of Point Pleasant, N.J., and Daniel and Renee of State College, PA.
He was the proud grandfather of seven granddaughters and three grandsons, who brought everlasting joy to his life. Michael is also survived by his brother, Bruce Barten, of Hamburg, N.Y.
Michael dedicated his career to serving others, working as a registered nurse for the state of New York and later at the Rochester Psychiatric Center. Before his time in Rochester, he worked at Sunmount DDSO and served the Tupper Lake community as a firefighter, dispatcher, and driver.
Tupper Lake always held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the friendships he made there.
Known for his compassion and unwavering dedication to the people he loved, Michael strove to make life better for those around him. His quick wit and warm smile could brighten any room, and his kindness touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
