Lew A. Plumley, 88, of Kickerville Lane, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 29, 2023, at his home.
Born on February 25, 1935, in Tupper Lake, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Vaughn) Plumley. He was a graduate of Holy Ghost Academy, Tupper Lake. He served in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956.
Lew married Jeanne Farr on November 30, 1957, at St. Henry’s Church in Long Lake. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage prior to her passing on May 28, 2021.
Lew was a New York State Trooper (Troop B) from 1962 until his retirement in 1988, with the majority of his career spent at the Indian Lake substation.
He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his horses over the years, making canoe paddles and had crafted his own guide boat. He was caretaker for various camps in the area, which he truly enjoyed.
Lew was a communicant of St. Henry’s Church, a member of the Long Lake Lions Club for over 30 years and a past Long Lake Town Councilman.
He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Jeanne, and two brothers, Robert and Gary Plumley.
Survivors include his children: Jeffrey (Donna) Plumley of Saranac Lake, Lynne Crouse of Plattsburgh, Susan Plumley of Long Lake, Bruce (Carole) Plumley of Cadyville; six grandchildren: Jessica, Nikolas, Hannah, Katie, Rachel, and Seth; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial were held January 13, 2024.
