Lynda M. Levesque, 62

Dan McClelland

Lynda M. Levesque, 62, of Tupper Lake, died Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Tupper Lake on September 14, 1960, the daughter of Louis and Ona Gillis. She graduated from Tupper Lake Central School in 1979.

Lynda lived life to the fullest. After she was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis, she courageously fought against the disease until the very end, and was often referred to as an inspiration to all those around her.

Lynda married the love of her life, Gary Levesque, on August 18, 1984 in Tupper Lake. Their 38 years of marriage withstood the test of time, and Lynda was so lucky to have such a caring and devoted husband. She worked at Sunmount DDSO before her disease forced her into an early retirement. Lynda always made it a priority to plan gatherings that brought the whole family together, whether it was a picnic at the Birches, a cookout up at Chuck and Sue’s in Whitney Park, or a game of pitch at Kathy’s house. Some of Lynda’s hobbies were cooking, gardening, and embroidery. She loved to play card games and board games, especially Scrabble, and was often a tough opponent to beat. She loved going out for day trips shopping and visits with “the girls.”

Lynda was a devoted wife and mother and was always there to support her children in all of their endeavors. Lynda couldn’t have been prouder of her children, Nicholas, Lindsey and Miles and all of their accomplishments.

More than anything, Lynda loved being a grandmother and cherished every moment she got to have with her grandchildren whether it was in person or through FaceTime. One of her fondest memories was being in the delivery room for the birth of her first grandchild, Hudson. Lynda was also the self-proclaimed doggy daycare for her granddog Baxter, who rarely ever left Lynda’s side.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Gary Levesque; mother-in-law Lucille Levesque; sons, Nicholas Levesque and partner Anya Villenueve, Miles Levesque and wife Sarah Levesque; daughter, Lindsey Cairns and husband Tristan Cairns; her grandchildren, Hudson and Blake Cairns, Meredith Levesque; her granddogs, Baxter and Toby; her siblings, Charles (Suzanne) Gillis, and Kathy Poirier, who was Lynda’s dedicated caregiver for many years, and several nieces and nephews.

Lynda was predeceased by her parents; father-in-law, Paul Levesque; sister, Donna Madore; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pauline and Jack Dewyea.

Calling hours will take place at the Frary Funeral home on Monday, October 24t from 5 to 7p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25 at 11 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake.

Donations in Lynda’s honor can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.
