Danna Louise Lonergan
Dan McClelland
Danna Louise Lonergan, 68, of Tupper Lake, passed peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by family Sunday, March 28, 2021.
She was born February 24, 1953, at Mercy Hospital in Tupper Lake, the daughter of late Daniel and Louise [Cote] Jessie. She had three siblings, Adrien (Louis) Jessie, Allen (Cheryl) Jessie and Debra (Larry) Jones.
She attended the Junction School in Faust from K-6, then attended Tupper Lake High School and received a GED diploma. On April 4, 1992 in a private ceremony at their home, with friends and loved ones, she married William Lonergan, who survives.
She owned/operated the Lakeview Motel and retired from Sunmount DDSO after many years of providing direct care in the community. She enjoyed going to Florida in the winter and being surrounded by family, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going to the casino, feeding wild animals, and shopping.
She is survived by her husband, William; daughter, Christine Danussi; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and William Dechene; son and his partner, Derric Benware and Sabrina Shipman; all from Tupper Lake.
Danna had six grandchildren: Lindsey (Matthew) Merrihew, Maegan (Chase) Kavanagh, Bill (Samantha) Dechene, Sarah (Patrick) Barrett, Colton Benware and Cooper Benware; and eight great grandchildren; Audrey and Emmitt Merrihew; Vincent and Duke Kavanagh; Elijah, Carter, and Maple Dechene, and Owen Barrett. Danna is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was predeceased in death by her parents and her brother; Adrien.
She was someone who would help and be there for anyone. Her love showed with anything that she did. She was always willing to give you advice, whether you asked for it or not. Her proudest moments included acquiring her GED, and occasionally accomplishing a prank on her daughter Rachel. She was proud of all her children and extremely proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A service will be held at a later date with burial at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Danna may make memorial contributions to the Tri-Lake Humane Society or High Peaks Hospice.
