A funeral service for Doris Rose Barkley, age 98, will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 4p.m., with Deacon Jim Ellis officiating, at Frary-Stuart Funeral Home. Calling Hours will be held prior to the funeral from 2-4 pm.

Doris passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary-Stuart Funeral Home, Tupper Lake, NY.

Doris is survived by her three daughters; Marilyn Benware of Tupper Lake, Susan Burner and her husband Joseph of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Linda Kasper-Varden and her husband Norman of Tupper Lake. Doris is also survived by her five grandchildren, Michele Cupp and Andrew, Michael Kasper and wife Keesha, Jennifer Kasper-Mullikin, Derek Kasper and partner Tom Donroe, and William Kasper; and by her great grandchildren- A.J. Cupp, Samantha and Steve Stopka, Jacob Cupp, Connor Cupp, Hunter Cupp, Keira Rose Methot, Kiya Mullikin, Reese Kasper, and Dillan Kasper; and many foster grandchildren. She also leaves a number of loved nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her husband Murlin Barkley and her daughter Donna Barkley.

Mrs. Barkley was born on February 18, 1923, in Utica, N.Y., to the late Harry Spencer Clark and Florence White.

Doris graduated from Whitesboro High in 1940 and later attended Utica School Commerce. She worked as a nursing assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica.

She was a proud member of the East Star Chapter in Tupper Lake, N.Y. She married Murlin Barkley on February 27th, 1943 in Troy, NY. She enjoyed working with children.
