Marilyn Jeanne Barkley Benware, 74

Marilyn Jeanne Barkley Benware, 74, of Tupper Lake, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021.

A funeral service will be held at Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 4p.m. with Fr. Thomas officiating. Calling hours will take place prior from 2p.m. to 4p.m. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home.

Marilyn was born in Albany, N.Y. to Murlin and Doris Barkley. The family moved to Whitesboro, N.Y. shortly after her birth where they lived for many years.

She graduated from Whitesboro High School and went to work in Utica at Metropolitan Insurance Company. She then moved to Tupper Lake and worked briefly at Major Rod and then enjoyed a career at Sunmount DDSO for over 25 years.

She was married to Gilbert Benware and after his passing, she enjoyed a happy home for many years with Leonard Williams. She loved bingo, Texas hold-em poker, bowling, the casino, and camping at Blue Jay Campsite.

She is predeceased in death by both parents; her sister Donna Barkley; her husband Gilbert Benware; and her companion Leonard Williams. She is survived by her sister Linda Kasper-Varden and Norman; nieces and nephews- Jenifer Kasper- Mullikin, Michele Cupp, Michael Kasper, Derek Kasper, and William Kasper; and special great-nieces, Keira Methot, Kiya Mullikin, Reese Kasper, and Dillian Kasper.
