Ethel "Joyce" Earle, 96

Ethel "Joyce" Earle, 96, of Tupper Lake, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021.

Joyce was born on August 19, 1925 in Tupper Lake, the only daughter of five children to Valeda (La Fountain) Brown and Robert Brown Sr.

Joyce graduated from Tupper Lake High School and became employed by The New York Telephone Company as a switchboard operator until being hired by Mercy General Hospital in Tupper Lake as the Business Office Manager.

She married Robert "Bob" Earle May 1, 1949 and they continued to reside in Tupper Lake.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Susan (Michael) Britton of Parishville, N.Y. and Mary Ann Fries of Burnt Hills, N.Y. as well as four grandchildren, Kevin Wilcox of Canton, N.Y., Major Michael (Lidia) Wilcox (USMC) of Severn, Maryland, Stephanie (Christopher) Schelin of Wilton, N.Y. and Ryan (Jennifer) Fries of Rotterdam Junction, N.Y. and two step granddaughters, Andrea (Dave) Adsit of Redwood, N.Y. and Tracie (Jason) Green of Ogdensburg, N.Y.

She is also survived by one great granddaughter, (Lilah Schelin) and two step great granddaughters, Olivia and Michaela Adsit and three step great grandsons, Archie, Joseph and Jacob Green, sister in law Joan Brown of Alabama as well as several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Robert "Bob" Earle who passed away December 4, 2010, her four brothers, Roy Brown, Bernard James Brown, Robert Brown Jr., Donald Brown and her parents Valeda (La Fountain) Brown and Robert Brown Sr.

Joyce enjoyed cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, golf, camping, traveling, playing bridge, and spending time with family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, NY on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 11a.m. with burial at St. Alphonsus Cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
