Estelle L. Charron, 84, passed away quietly at home, surrounded by her loving family on September 26, 2016. She had been ill since July, at the time of her passing. She recently moved back to New York, and was residing at her daughter’s home, Audrey Charron, in Glens Falls, where Audrey was caring for her. Prior to this, she resided in Florida full time with her husband, the late Nolan Charron, since October 2011. Their last residence in Florida, was in Hudson, Fl. at Atria Windsor Woods ALF. They also previously owned a home in Tupper Lake.
Estelle was born in Bic, Quebec , on January 26, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Wilfrid Lavoie and the late Alvina (Morin) Lavoie. At the age of 15, she went away to study to become a teacher. She began teaching in an all boys school for hockey at age 17. She taught all subjects and grades until the age of 25. At 25 years of age, in 1957, she moved to the United States, to Tupper Lake, to learn English. In Tupper she met and married her husband, Nolan Charron, the son of the late Ammory Charon, and late Frances (Cramer) Charon, on August 9, 1958 at the home of Nolan’s parents.
Together Estelle and Nolan had four children: Lynn, Audrey, Regis, and Neil and resided in Tupper Lake raising their children through school to adulthood. Estelle was an employee of Sunmount Developmental Center, in Tupper Lake, New York for 20 years, from 1974 until she retired in 1994, as a mental hygiene therapy aide. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her grandchildren, traveling, the outdoors, bowling and gardening. She started traveling to Florida, where she purchased a mobile home in Palm Harbor, Fl. and spent almost 15 years of her retirement as a snowbird there, leaving Tupper in October, and returning in May for the spring and summer in the Adirondacks in Tupper Lake.
Estelle is now joined in eternity with her husband, Nolan Charron who went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2016. She also joins her son Neil, who predeceased them both on April 11, 2011. She is also predeceased by her sister Dorothy Lavoie, her parents- the late Wilfrid Lavoie and the late Alvina (Morin) Lavoie, a brother Vinny Lavoie whose wife Georgette still resides in Quebec City, Que, a sister Muriel, whose husband Julien predeceased her, a brother Jalbert Lavoie and wife Loretta who passed away, both in East Rochester, N.Y., anda brother Hubert who passed away in Macedon, N.Y. and whose wife Barbara currently resides in Fairport, N.Y.
She also leaves behind two daughters, Lynn (Charron) Becker, who resides in Dunedin, Fl. , and a daughter and Audrey Charron, who resides in Glens Falls, and a son Regis Charron, who resides in Tupper Lake.
Estelle also leaves behind many grandchildren: Jamie (Becker) and Steve Coryea, Ryan and Christin Becker, and Michael Becker and Kacie Murphy, children of Lynn Becker and the late Steven Becker, Matthew Charron, Andrew Reichert, and Amanda Mangine, children of Audrey Charron, and Nicholas Charron, Robbie Sabin, and Rebecca Sabin, children of Regis Charron and his former wife, Peggy LaMare - Charron, and Jennifer Charron and Jesse Gonyea, Shauna Charron, Kimberly Charron and Franco Sala, and Kacie Charron and Ben Martin.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter Rochelle in August of 1989.
She also leaves behind several great grandchildren: Hailey, Collin, Landen, Dylan, Bailey, Peyton, Berlyn, Isabella, and Benett. She is also predeceased by a great granddaughter Olivia.
Estelle was crematedat Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home in Queensbury, N.Y. and joins her husband Nolan in a beautiful urn with Nolanwho was also cremated in July 2016.
A Memorial Mass for Estelle and Nolan Charron was held at the Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake on Monday October 3 with full military honors for Nolan for his military service.
There the urn was blessed and a Mass was provided by the Rev. Douglas Decker, pastor, and Gerald Savage, deacon. Organist and singer was Joseph Peck. Amanda Mangine did the first reading for her grandparents andJamie (Becker) Coryea did the second reading for her grandparents. Nicholas Charron and Kacie Charron presented the gifts at the mass for their grandparents. A gathering was held immediately following the mass at the VFW Clubhouse on Park Streetfor family and friends. The Charron family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to each and everyone for the donations of food and kind words or thoughts, and money sent to help.
