School board attendees treated to “Mamma Mia” preview

by Dan McClelland

Last Monday evening the Tupper Lake Board of Education and the folks in attendance at the March monthly meeting at the high school library were treated to an exclusive preview of the Red and Black Players’ upcoming spring musical, “Mamma Mia.”

The meeting had been moved to the middle/high school library with all the action underway at the elementary school as part of its annual scholastic book fair this week.

The smash hit musical by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus is one of Broadway’s most popular and is based on the lively and captivating songs of the musical group, Abba.

It’s coming to the high school stage on the evenings of March 27 and 28 with a Sunday afternoon matinee performance on March 29.

In the absence of the Free Press publisher that evening who was at a town board meeting Vocal Music Teacher Liz Cordes, who with her husband George, routinely direct the high school musicals each year getting the very best out of their always talented Red and Black Players was kind enough to furnish these photos of some of their singers who entertained the elected leaders at the March monthly meeting.
