Hey kids: Lunch with Santa is Saturday
by Dan McClelland
For kids here who dream about Christmas morning and what they may find under the tree, there’s a chance Saturday to whisper in Santa’s ear for tips on what they hope to receive.
The place to share wishes with Santa is Saturday, November 29 at the St. Alphonsus/ Holy Name of Jesus parish center on Marion Ave.
It’s Tupper Lake’s annual Lunch with Santa, a tradition here dating back to the early 1980s when it was one of the former Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce’s premier Christmas events. In those early years Lunch with Santa was staged in the high school cafeteria and for many years it was held at the Knights of Columbus hall, before it closed.
For many years the event has been sponsored by the Tupper Lake Kiwanis Club and its many happy elves.
Everything for kids and their families is again free, including a light lunch and some treats- plus the chance to climb up onto the big Elf’s lap.
The event will run from 11a.m. to 1p.m. and every child in Tupper Lake and nearby communities is most welcome to come and greet Santa.
