Turkey Trot returning on Thanksgiving morning

It’s back! For the 12th time, the annual Erin Farkas Dewyea Turkey Trot will get Thanksgiving holiday observers up early on that festive day and out onto the streets of the Junction. It’s an opportunity too to work up an appetite to attack the holiday meal later that day.

The 5K walk or run will begin this year at the Tupper Lake Train Station, where check-in begins at 8a.m. The race starts at 9a.m.

This year the Town Recreation Department and the Tupper Lake Kiwanis Club have again paired up to host the popular Thanksgiving event.

For those not interested in doing the walk or run, there’s also many prizes, raffles and 50-50 drawings that morning at the train station.

All proceeds will go to Tupper Lake youth activities here.

The event remembers the late elementary school teacher, Erin Farkas Dewyea, whose love of her students, whose kind ways and her inspirational teaching methods are remembered by many here.

To register for the running/walking event in advance or to purchase this year’s souvenir Turkey Trot shirt, go to www.tupperlake.com/events/erin-farkas-dewyea-turkey-trot.
