Apolinario A. Torno, M.D.

Apolinario A. “Paul” Torno, 83, of Tupper Lake, passed away at his home on Monday, August 26, 2024 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease. Per his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Daphne “Tutti” Torno; his children, Michael Torno, of Rochester, Sebold Torno and his wife Sue, of Rochester, and Pamela Torno and her husband Steve Weiss, of Oakland, CA; his step-son, Eric Staves and his wife Kim, of Odessa, FL; three precious grandchildren, Colin, Avery, and Emma Staves; brother-in-law, David Carrow, of Dennis, MA; sisters-in-law, Judi Snyder and Diane (Michael) Dechene, both of Tupper Lake; special nephews, Evan and Matthew Dechene, both of Tupper Lake; and many relatives in the United States and Philippines. He is predeceased by his father-in-law Charles Carrow, mother-in-law, Eileen Carrow and sister-in-law, Barbara Carrow.

Paul was born on July 23, 1941, in St. Ignacia, Tarlac, Philippines, the son of Alfonso and Godofreda Aviguetero Torno.

He graduated from Santa Tomas Catholic University in 1960 and Santa Tomas School of Medicine in 1965 before moving to the United States in 1966. Paul did a fellowship in Cardiology and went to work for Sunmount DDSO in 1989 as a board-certified Medical Internist, retiring in 2007.

He married Daphne Ann Carrow on June 26, 2003 in Saranac Lake. Paul was a self-taught photographer and many of his pictures hang on the walls at Adirondack Medical Center and at his home.
