Richard Evans White, a long-time resident of Tupper Lake, died May 4, 2024 at the age of 83. Born on March 2, 1941 in the Bronx, N.Y.
Richard, also known as Dicky, graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and went on to study Forestry and Wildlife Management in college.
He was a dedicated outdoorsman enjoying all types of hunting and fishing. He camped throughout much of upstate New York. It was where he was his happiest.
He was a member of, and often frequented, the Wild Center here.
He enjoyed walking in the village in all types of weather and many people came to know him. He had a good sense of humor and a friendly way about him and enjoyed meeting up with his friends at Mountain Crest Club.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Angela (Ann) S. White; his father, John (Jack) E. White; and his brother, William (Billy) Sutherland (Sheila). He is survived by his sisters, Deanne Huguenel of Virginia Beach, VA, Joan McShane (Thomas) of the Bronx, and Barbara Hausman (John) of Elburn, IL. He was an uncle to many. He will also be missed by the many friends and caregivers he has had over the years. Their kindnesses will always be remembered and appreciated.
