Fortified with the Sacraments of our Holy Mother Church, Joe Koch passed away after a sudden illness in his home town of Concord, NC.
Formerly of Tupper Lake, Joe was a 1963 graduate of Holy Ghost Academy, attended the University of Notre Dame, served in the U.S. Army when he was awarded the VietNam Service Medal, the VietNam Campaign Medal, and the Bronze Star.
Joe graduated from Purdue University and began his corporate career with US Steel. After many years, he chose to pursue a degree in education and taught at the New Jersey Youth Challenge Academy at Ft Dix, NJ. Upon retirement, Joe moved to Concord, NC.
Joe is survived by his wife Keiko, his daughter Kristin Benokraitis (Andrius) of Durham, NC, his son Greg of Washington, DC, his adored grandson Austin Benokraitis, his sisters Christine Crowe (Myles) of Glen, NH, and Aimee Page (Bob) of Moultonborough, NH. Joe was predeceased by his parents Dr. & Mrs. Joseph Koch and an infant brother Frederick.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. James the Greater Church in Concord on April 27 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at a later date.
