With much sadness, we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, Simone Marie Vachon. Simone passed from this world peacefully in her sleep Easter morning March 31th, 2024 at her home at Don Smith's Apartments in Tupper Lake, NY.
Simone was born March 13th, 1933 in Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada. She married Rosaire Vachon on October 6th, 1951 and both became United States citizens on April 23rd, 1963. Simone was employed at Mercy General Hospital for more than 40 years. She was also a foster grandparent at L. P. Quinn Elementary School in Tupper Lake and was an active member of St. Alphonsus Church.
She enjoyed cross-country skiing, trips and bingo with her friends at the Adult Center, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. Simone also enjoyed riding her three-wheeled bike with her friend Paul, who is no longer with us. She especially loved watching wrestling and Judge Judy on television.
Preceded in death are her parents, George and Valerie LaChance, her husband Rosiare, sons Robert and a stillborn baby she always kept close to her heart.
Simone is survived by her three children Norman and Kathy Vachon, Louise Amell and companion Vincent Coccia and Richard and Lori Vachon. Her presence will be missed by her grandchildren, Shannon Beaudette, Jamie Amell and companion Chris Segard, Amanda Amell and companion Nate Lewis, Brandon and Kyle Vachon and Ashley Law. Simone was also blessed with great-grandchildren Chris and Madison Vachon, Lexi and Natalie Staves and great-great-grandchildren Aadya and Roman Vachon and Rydel Saville. Simone is also survived by her sister Rollande LaChance.
Calling hours will be held on April 12, 2024 from noon to 2p.m. at the Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake, NY. A Catholic Mass will be held for Simone on the same day, at 2:30pm at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, NY. Friends and family are invited to gather at Don Smith's Community Room after the church service, burial will take place at a later date in May.
