Mariruth (Carmichael) Brown

Mariruth C. Brown of Tupper Lake passed away on September 25, 2023, at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, following a lengthy illness.

Born on October 28, 1954 at Mercy Hospital in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Floyd H. and Ruth M. Carmichael.

After graduating from local schools she attended various colleges, obtaining degrees from North Country Community College, SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Plattsburgh and Clarkson University.

After receiving an MBA in Finance from Clarkson, she embarked on a lengthy career for the State of New York, as a financial analyst for various departments within the state system. After illness forced her retirement she moved back to Tupper Lake to be with family and friends.

Among her hobbies, which included making and teaching paper crafting, woodworking and wood turning. She also audited courses each semester at the various local colleges in the Capital District. Education was a lifelong pleasure for her.

She was also an accomplished chef, and cooking for family gatherings was always a labor of love for her.

She is survived by a son, Jason Trombley, two brothers, Kenneth and Daniel Carmichael, a sister Margaret Paiement and several nieces and nephews

 

There will be no funeral or memorial service, which was her wish. There will be a simple gathering in the near future, for all her family members to pay their last respects. She will be interred in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam N.Y., to be reunited with her parents.
