Karla J. Jarvis, 62, of Cadyville, N.Y. passed away on Sunday, February 6, surrounded by family. Karla was born in Tupper Lake on October 25, 1959, to the late Lorraine and Walter Dumas.
She graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1977. She started working for the Department of Corrections in 1984 where she worked and retired after 30 years of service, as a principal account clerk.
Karla married Stephen Jarvis on April 16, 1994, at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. Their ceremony was officiated by Father Manfred.
Growing up Karla spent a lot of time working and helping with the family-owned restaurant, Dumas’ in Childwold.
She currently was working for Saranac Central School District as a bus monitor.
Karla was an outgoing and loving person to be around. She enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, snowmobiling, boating, going to camp and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Stephen Jarvis of Cadyville; sons Logan Jarvis of Cadyville, and Aaron Jarvis of Tupper Lake; sister-in-law Pam Dumas of Stanardsville, VA; brother-in-law Eric Jarvis, and his wife Judy Jarvis of Dannemora, N.Y.; nephew, Matthew Dumas, and his wife, Heather Dumas and children of Stanardsville, VA; nephew, Jason Dumas, and his fiancé, Shyla Cameron and daughter of Leadville, CO.
Karla is predeceased by her brother, Tim Dumas.
A graveside memorial will be held at Gale Cemetery in Piercefield in the spring.
Donations in memory of Karla can be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh.
