Colleen (LaFave) O'Hara, 80

Colleen M. (LaFave) O’Hara, Liverpool, NY, 80, passed peacefully on December 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Colleen was a graduate of Tupper Lake High School and graduated in 1958 from Central Business Institute, Syracuse, N.Y. She worked at General Electric, Hospital Association of CNY, Cooperative Extension of CNY, and retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in 2002.

Colleen volunteered as a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Leader, United Way Pledge chairwoman for Niagara Mohawk, treasurer for St. Joseph The Worker Seniors Club and she volunteered at swim meets, ski races, and other activities supporting her children’s interests. She enjoyed 50 years as a snow skier and was an avid golfer.

Colleen was very “spiritual!” She enjoyed telling stories about the many angels in her life and the many visits from the “Holy Spirit” while praying for others in need, and the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Her goal of learning the Bible came true for her through The Bible Time Line Study program at St. Joseph The Worker.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend; your strength, faith, kindness, and love are what holds our family together, your memory will live on in all of our hearts. We pray for you.

She is predeceased by her parents, Leo J. LaFave (1978), Florence (Ayotte) LaFave (1993), Tupper Lake, N.Y. and grandson, William Joseph Brooker (2004), Star Lake, N.Y.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael J. O’Hara, Liverpool, N.Y. and by their children, Michelle T. O’Hara, Liverpool, Keith M. (Ingrid Reinhardt) O’Hara, Andover, MA, Maria C. Hopkins (Kevin), Windham, N.H., Lisa M. Brooker (John), Star Lake; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Nick) M. O’Hara, Broomfield, CO, Sarah R. O’Hara, Nashville, TN, Connor J. Hopkins, Donovan P. Hopkins, Windham, NH Emily E. O’Hara, Grace A. O’Hara, Andover, MA, John (Jack) H. Brooker, Leo J. Brooker, Star Lake. She is also survived by her two sisters, Joanne (LaFave) Jones-Russell (Budd, Robert), Tupper Lake, Carol (LaFave) McGuire (Michael), Durango, CO., brother-in-law Patrick H. O’Hara II (Patricia), McGraw, N.Y., and by her Aunt: Joanne (Ayotte) Jackson, Liverpool, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours were held on Thursday, December 19 from 4p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home, Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt. 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, December 20 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker, 1001 Tulip Street, Liverpool, N.Y. 13088.

Burial followed in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 8668 Route 57, Baldwinsville, N.Y.
