Duane Eldridge, 86 years, of Tupper Lake, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Mercy Living Center surrounded by his loving family. Services will be announced by the family at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary-Stuart Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
Duane is survived by his wife, Marilyn Eldridge of Tupper Lake; his three children, Alan Eldridge and his wife, Wendy of Rochester, Duane Eldridge Jr. of Springfield, VA, Loni Quinn and her husband, Patrick of Milford, NH; his brother, Lloyd Eldridge, of West Rotunda, FL, four grandchildren, Patrick and Michael Quinn, Duane Eldridge III, and Lindsey Butler and her husband Eric; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Matthew Butler.
Duane was born on Wednesday July 12, 1933 in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Elmer and Marcella Anslem Eldridge. He graduated from Madison High School in Rochester, and enlisted in the Navy where he served until being honorably discharge in 1957. He went on to continue his education at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake and received an Associate Degree in Applied Science.
Duane married Marilyn on February 4, 1962 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Rochester.
In June 1962, Duane joined the New York State Troopers where he served until he retired as a Zone Sergeant in 1989.
He attended Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Tupper Lake, and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Tupper Lake. He was Past Master of Mt. Arab Lodge #847 F&AM. He was also an active member of the Abenaque Chapter 745 OES.
He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, skiing, camping, and traveling to Ruskin, Florida where he and his wife spent most of their winters. He also enjoyed their 55-year tradition of making summer trips to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
