Edith P Smith

Edith passed away at Maplewood Campus in Canton, N.Y. on May 12, 2016.  She was a resident of Long Lake, for over 60 years prior to her moving to Maplewood in 2015 to be closer to her daughter.
Edith was born September 2, 1929 in Rowlandsville, Maryland to the late Clyde and Pearl (Regan) Sevey. She married Richard P. Smith of Colton, NY, together they shared 49 years of marriage before his passing on October 10, 1999.
She is survived by two daughters and one son. Virginia and (Jerry) Fisher of Colton,  Barbara and (Joseph) Marquay of Enfield, N.H., Wayne and (Diane) Smith of Aurora, Colorado; two sisters, Mildred White of South Colton and Marie Collins of Gloversville; eight grandchildren: Toby Fisher; Felicia and (Bill) Bonno; Heather Fisher and (Ed Simser); Justin and (Lori) Fisher; Yvonne Gabourel; Joseph Marquay Jr; Brenton Smith and Kenny Smith; 21 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
Edith enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends along with dancing and listening to country music. She enjoyed crocheting and doing various types of embroidery work. Over the years she gave away much of her beautiful handiwork to family and friends as gifts which are treasured. She also enjoyed cooking, doing puzzles, watching Wheel Of Fortune, the Walton’s, Hallmark movies and cooking shows.
Per Edith's request a memorial service will not be held. The family suggests that friends wishing to remember her make donations to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
